Looking for a peaceful Ubud villa with a jungle view? We stayed at SunRai Villa and loved every moment – from the infinity pool to in-villa massages and daily breakfast. Here’s our full review.

After a few fun (and slightly hectic!) days in Seminyak, we packed up our bags and headed north to the lush, tranquil jungle of Ubud. If Seminyak is all about beach clubs and shopping, Ubud is the soul-soothing, greenery-filled breath of fresh air – and that’s exactly what we were craving.
For our time in Ubud, I was searching for something peaceful and private. I wanted a little oasis away from the hustle and bustle, preferably with a pool that overlooked the jungle. That’s when I came across SunRai Villa — and it turned out to be exactly what I was hoping for.

Our Ubud Villa: Why we loved staying at SunRai Villa
SunRai is a newly built two-bedroom villa tucked away down a long driveway – hidden just enough to feel secluded, but still close enough to town (about 1km) to be super convenient. From the moment we arrived, it felt like our own private sanctuary.
Our days were spent exploring Ubud or visiting one of the many incredible spas nearby, and each afternoon we’d return to the villa to cool off in the infinity pool and relax before dinner. And, the cherry on top? A massage in bed each night – just $15 AUD for a dreamy, hour-long treatment by one of their visiting therapists.

🛏 What’s inside the our Ubud villa:
- 2 bedrooms with air-con
- 2 oversized bathrooms
- A fully equipped kitchen, dining, and living space
- Daily breakfast included (yes, please!)
- A stunning jungle-view infinity pool

💸 What it cost:
We paid $557 AUD for 2 nights, which we felt was good value for what we got – for 3 of us.

Our favourite things about SunRai Villa
🌴 The peaceful setting
It’s tucked away in the jungle, but only a short walk or scooter ride to the centre of Ubud. You feel completely immersed in nature, without being isolated.
🌴 The breakfast
Each morning started with a fresh fruit platter and delicious nasi goreng. It was one of those “how-is-this-my-life?” moments.
🌴 The local eats
Right near the end of our driveway were the cutest little warungs — all twinkly with fairy lights and surrounded by greenery. We didn’t explore as much as we should have, but there was even a great pizza place nearby. You can also get food via a GoJek delivered right to the door.
🌴 The villa itself
Big, comfortable bedrooms, bathrooms that are bigger than most hotel rooms, and a pool that’s made for lazing around with a book or a cocktail.
🌴 The staff
The team at SunRai were amazing – warm, helpful, and always checking in to see if we needed anything. That kind of hospitality really makes a stay extra special.
🌴 The massages
Every night we booked a massage through the villa (AUD$15 for a full hour!) and had them right there in our villa – in bed. It was the perfect way to end each day.

What to know before you book
One thing to note is that the villa isn’t accessible by car. The final part of the journey is down a walking path (or scooter path), and you’ll need to walk about 10 minutes to get in and out each time.
When we arrived, the team met us with scooters to carry our luggage and take us down to the villa. It was easy, beautiful, and kind of fun – but if you’re travelling with small kids, prams, or anyone with mobility issues, it’s something to keep in mind.

Final thoughts
If you’re looking for a peaceful, luxurious stay in Ubud that still feels connected to everything, SunRai Villa is a gem. I’d happily go back in a heartbeat – and next time, I’d probably stay longer!
