This is my honest review of JW Marriott Phuket, sharing what our stay was really like, from the rooms and pools to the food, location and whether it’s worth booking.

Some hotels are where you sleep between adventures.
And then there are hotels that are the adventure.
JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa was that kind of place for us. The kind you arrive at, take one look around, and quietly cancel any loose plans because… why would you leave?
From the moment we stepped onto the property, everything felt slower, calmer and more intentional. Palm trees swaying, wide open spaces, ocean air drifting through the resort. It didn’t feel busy or chaotic, even though it’s a big resort. It just felt peaceful. Like it was designed for unwinding.
This was our final stay in Phuket, and it honestly felt like the perfect ending.
This review is based on our own stay and is written for anyone planning a trip to Phuket and wondering if this hotel is worth booking. I’ll share what stood out, what to know before you go, who it’s best for and whether I’d stay here again.
This stay was kindly hosted for editorial consideration, but all thoughts are genuinely my own.

Where is JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa located?
The resort is set on Mai Khao Beach, at the quieter northern end of Phuket.
In real-life terms:
- Far from the busy nightlife areas
- Peaceful and spacious
- Feels removed without being difficult to reach
This location is perfect if you want:
- A true resort-style stay
- Quiet beaches and open space
- Somewhere to fully switch off
Less ideal if you want shopping and nightlife on your doorstep.

First impressions
From arrival, everything felt unhurried and thoughtful.
Staff were welcoming without being overbearing, and the layout of the resort instantly gives you space to breathe. It’s a large property, but it never once felt crowded or chaotic.
The whole place feels tropical, elegant and relaxed all at once.

Our room
Our room was beautiful and stunning.
It was:
- Huge and beautifully styled
- Had a daybed and pool access
- Felt luxe without being stuffy
- Surrounded by greenery and water views
Everywhere you looked there were gardens, palms and little pathways leading to the beach.
It was one of the most beautiful rooms I’ve ever stayed in, with the garden and beach outlook.
At the time of our stay, prices were starting from around $330 a night, which honestly felt pretty reasonable for what you get here. You can check availability here.

Pools, beach & facilities
The scale of this resort is incredible, in the best possible way.
We didn’t even scratch the surface of everything on offer, but highlights included:
- Multiple pools (including adults-only areas)
- Beachfront access
- A waterslide (yes, I absolutely used it)
- Massage areas on the beach
- A turtle sanctuary
- Shops within the resort
- Beautiful walking paths and gardens
And the gardens deserve a special mention. They are absolutely glorious and make the whole resort feel like a tropical paradise.

Food & dining
The food here was amazing, like everywhere we ate in Thailand, but this really stood out.
There are multiple restaurants including:
- Italian dining
- A relaxed deli-style option
- Beachfront spots
- Casual and more refined choices
Everything we tried was delicious.
And yes… the blue rice. I’m still thinking about it.

Who this hotel is best for
This resort is perfect for:
- Couples
- Families
- Friend groups
- Honeymooners
- Anyone who loves resort-style holidays
- Travellers who want to relax without needing to leave
It’s less suited to:
- People wanting busy nightlife
- Those who prefer city-style stays

What we loved about JW Marriott Phuket
- The incredible gardens
- The sunsets over the beach
- The pools (so many options)
- The food across the resort
- The space and calm feeling
- How easy it was to truly unwind

What to know before booking
- This is a true resort stay (you may not want to leave)
- The beach here is more natural and can be a little rougher at times
- It’s located in a quieter area of Phuket
- The resort is large, but beautifully laid out and easy to navigate

Is JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa worth it?
A big yes! If the beach here was a little calmer, this would hands down be my number one stay in Phuket (I’m a saltwater beach girl at heart). That said, I would still choose this resort again in a heartbeat for the pools, the food, the gardens and the overall vibe.
Come for the pools and the food.
Stay for the chilled energy and sunsets.
I genuinely think I’ve found my happy place.
