Banana Tarte Tatins Recipe

Fat Mum Slim /

I made these Banana Tarte Tatins and was surprised how easy it was, and yummy too. Would definitely make again.

OK, I’m going agree with you and say this isn’t the prettiest thing I ever did make, but it sure is good. Like, I dreamed about these for days after because they were so good. I don’t know about you, but I like banana-anything, and this was perfect: caramel, banana, pastry… what’s not to love? This recipe was one I saw in the Women’s Weekly Express Cookbook.

75g butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 small bananas, halved lengthways
2 sheets of puff pastry

♥ Preheat the oven to 200ºC.
♥ Place the butter, sugar and cinnamon into a large oven-proof saucepan, over a medium heat. Stir until the butter is melted, and the mixture is caramelised. Turn off the heat.
♥ Meanwhile, place two of the banana halves, cut-side down, onto one of the pastry sheets. Trim the pastry around the banana {just follow around the shape, leaving a 2cm border around each banana}. Wrap the pastry around the banana. Repeat with other banana halves and pastry sheet.
♥ Place the bananas in pastry, cut side down into the caramel mixture. Transfer to the oven and bake for 20 minutes {or until golden and cooked through}. Transfer to plates and serve with cream, ice cream or both!

Bananas? Like em? Love em? Not a fan?

.. Chantelle… we do a similar thing with bananas.. we dip the cut bananas in a light batter and then fry them in a little oil.. we call these banana fritters.. and we ate them with golden syrup and ice cream …. I like your version..
