Made from frozen bananas and blended until silky smooth, this treat is perfect for those wanting something a little lighter, dairy-free, or just ridiculously easy to make. Add your favourite flavours and toppings, and you’ve got a scoopable treat that feels like ice cream… but is made from fruit.

How to make banana nice cream

1. Freeze your bananas

Peel 5–6 ripe bananas and slice into coin-sized pieces.
Place in snap-lock bags and freeze overnight, or until completely solid.

2. Blend until creamy

Once frozen, pop the banana pieces into a food processor.
Blend until ultra-smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides as needed.
And just like that — your basic banana nice cream is ready!

3. Flavour it up

Stick with the classic or try one of these easy variations:


🍫 Chocolate chip

Add:

  • 4 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Stir in 1 cup chocolate chips after blending

🥜 Peanut butter cup

Add:

  • 4 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp peanut butter

🍓 Berry + almond

Add:

  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Sprinkle with 6 tbsp toasted almond flakes

🥭 Mango + coconut

Add:

  • 2 cups frozen mango cubes
  • Sprinkle with 6 tbsp toasted shredded coconut

🌿 Mint choc chip

Add:

  • ½–1 tsp peppermint extract
  • 2 tsp spirulina powder (for that minty green colour)
  • Stir in 1 cup chocolate chips after blending

4. Scoop and enjoy

Serve immediately for soft-serve texture or pop into the freezer for 1–2 hours if you prefer it firmer.

56 large ripe bananas


Instructions

Peel and slice the bananas into coin-sized pieces. Place the bananas into 2–3 snap lock bags and place into the freezer overnight to freeze until rock solid.

To make the nice cream, add the bananas to the bowl of a food processor and blend until ultra-smooth. Your nice cream is now ready to be balled and eaten, or you could add a few of the following ingredients to transform the flavours.


Notes

Chocolate chip : Add 4 tbsp cocoa powder, 1 tsp vanilla extract and stir in 1 cup chocolate chips after blending the banana and cocoa powder.

Peanut butter cup : Add 4 tbsp cocoa powder, 1 tsp vanilla extract and 3 tbsp peanut butter.

Berry + almond : Add 1 cup mixed frozen berries, 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup, 1 tsp vanilla extract and 6 tbsp toasted almond flakes to sprinkle on top.

Mango + coconut : Add 2 cups frozen mango cubes and 6 tbsp toasted shredded coconut to sprinkle on top.

Mint choc chip : Add 1⁄2–1 tsp pure peppermint extract, 2 tsp spirallina powder to make it green and stir in 1 cup chocolate chips once the banana is blended.
