The Day.

I

ve always wanted to experience one white Christmas. Sitting by the fire as the snow falls outside, watching the tree lights sparkle. It just seems so romantic.

In our home we rarely get to see our Christmas lights at their full potential because the sun is staying up so long, and we go to bed so early. Steaming hot Christmas Days are just normal for us.

I remember one Christmas Day {I think it was our first as a married couple} Hubby and I woke up, exchanged gifts and then went for a run down on the beach. I am laughing as I type this because it’s so not who we are now, or even were back then. I remember the drunk backpackers watching us and laughing at us. Who does that on Christmas Day? Isn’t everyone busy eating and drinking like it’s their Last Supper?

Tomorrow we’ll start the day at home with some gift swapping and then head to my Ma’s for a big family breakfast. We’ll then merge that into lunch, try and fit in a swim at the beach and by the afternoon we’ll all probably need a little bit of a nap.

How are you spending Christmas Day?

  1. I've had cold Christmases for most of my life. Last year was quite snowy too. This year, we're in NZ and looking forward to the warmth and a visit to the beach. And relaxing instead of having to shiver all day.

    Merry Christmas!

  2. DH, Jasper, Jovie & I will have Christmas morning together — Jovie's first!! We'll head off to my parent's house in the afternoon for a light lunch and then a big Christmas dinner 🙂 Yum!!

We want to have a white Christmas one year — we'll probably go back to the States for a few weeks around Christmas/NYE – I can't wait. I've never seen snow :O

  3. Oh, I'm the same….I long for that ONE white Christmas just to see what all the fuss is about!

I will be spending Christmas eating like a horse. I'm so excited, I've been practising and fine-tuning my eating skills all week!

  4. i want a white christmas too. sigh.

christmas this year is at my boyfriends auntys house. who knows what is going to happen cause its dinner. and his aunty is going out for lunch. sigh.

  5. The few times I've had a white Christmas, it didn't feel like Christmas at all. I need balmy evenings, swims at the beach, backyard cricket for it to really feel like Christmas.

We'll be up before sunrise (as we always are) exchange gifts and then down to the beach for lunch!

A very merry Christmas to you.
    xx

  6. Our Christmas eve and morning will be spent at Inverloch, my partner's grandparents originally settled the area and the oldest house in town is descended upon by all the cousins and descendants of the originals, a big old wide verandahs federation style home right on the beach surrounded by all the new apartments! We will open presents on the front lawn/sand and then head to my mum's about 50 mins away at my family home with my sisters, brother, their spouses, my four nieces, my sister who lives in cambodia has flown home and my mother hen mum in the middle of it all stuffing us with five different baked meats and plum pud!
    Merry Christmas

  7. We usually celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve so Christmas Day is more of a resting day. Sounds like you have the perfect setting for an Australian Christmas with the beach right in front of you! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas! I can't wait to keep reading about your adventures in 2010 xxx

  8. I am in Salt Lake City, at the moment, in the snow and it is cold!! You are right, it is beautiful and romantic, but by the looks of the picture you posted, that looks pretty tempting too. Merry Christmas.
