It’s old-school, a little bit nostalgic, and made with the kind of ingredients you probably already have in the pantry. And somehow, it always ends up tasting better than you expect.

👩‍🍳 How to make savoury mince pasta bake

  1. Cook the pasta

Cook the pasta in salted boiling water until just al dente.
    Drain and set aside.

  2. Start the base

Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
Add the diced onion and cook until softened, then stir through the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

  3. Brown the mince

Add the beef mince and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.

  4. Add flavour

Stir through the French onion soup mix and water.
Let it simmer for about 5 minutes so the flavours develop.

  5. Add the veggies

Add the frozen vegetables and simmer for another 10 minutes, until everything is heated through and slightly thickened.

  6. Bring it together

Stir through the tomato sauce and cooked pasta until everything is well combined.

  7. Bake until golden

Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and sprinkle the grated cheese over the top.
Bake at 180°C for 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, golden and bubbly.

  8. Serve

Serve hot and enjoy — this one is cosy, filling and always a crowd-pleaser.
