Point & Shoot: A Not So Grand Final.

L

ast year our football team got the wooden spoon {which means they came absolutely last}. This year they made it into the Grand Final. Pretty impressive, eh?

We were all geared for the game. Lacey had her little jersey, Hubby had his big one. Last time Hubby and I ventured out to watch the Roosters play in a Grand Final live, it rained. It poured. We were soaked. And we lost the game.
This time we watched from the comfort of our own home. And we lost again.
I love the spirit though. People smile and wave in the street. People paint on walls, gates, and put up streamers and flags. As we drove around it seemed like it was a little bit like Christmas. People were so happy. I’m sure the spirit is a little different now that we’ve lost though. I’m still proud.
Lacey loved it. She was cheering, “Go Roosters!” and waving her flag in front of the TV.
How was your weekend? What did you get up to? Do you stay as far away from football as possible?

  1. We watched the footy too and our house was just as bummed out by the end result as yours would have been. Me, my mum, my dad and even my dog had roosters jerseys on. Dad decorated the whole house with streamers. We even made our lollies be red white and blue and then we lost 🙁 Not a fun day but a great bounce back from last season! I should put some photos up on my blog.

  2. Awww … sounds fun.
I love your 'like' lists on the side … you're a girl after my own heart.
We had a garage sale, then spent some of the proceeds on having Sunday breakfast at a cafe; the kids got to spend the money they made from selling toys on new (much smaller) toys. Miss 7 got a fake kitty cat that purrs and walks, Mr 9 got a guinea pig that walks, runs, battles and is altogether too cute.

  3. We over here in the West in our house was gutted that the Roosters lost, they are our team.

However, to go from the wooden spoon last year to appearing in the Grand Final this year is a freaking impressive effort, one the boys should be proud of!

  4. We were at the Grand Final. Love my Roosters. So proud of our boys – look how far they've come this season. Each and every one of them should be so proud x

  5. i have to say im not a big football fan (since my team wasnt in the finals) so i steered right away from the game and spent time with the kids.

  6. Oh commiserations.
Being a Melbourne girl, it's AFL all the way for me.
And being a Collingwood supporter I'm a happy girl.
I love the spirit as well. Grand Final morning is ace, everyone buzzing around trying to get things done before the big game.
And a free license to eat hot dogs. LOVE IT
