I almost can’t count how many batches of playdough I made over the school holidays. I made a handful of batches of Thermomix Playdough, and some No-Cook Playdough too. I decided to mix it up and make some glitter playdough too, because why not? This one takes less than 5 minutes to make, and then it’s ready to play with. It’s warm when it’s finished to break it up into small batches before handing over to the kids – so it cools quicker.
It makes a small batch, so you can double or triple the recipe to make more. I just wanted a small batch for the girls to play with.
Homemade 5-Minute No-Cook Glitter Playdough
Ingredients
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 cup boiling water
1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil
Food colouring of your choice
1 tube of coloured glitter {you can get them from your local bargain shop}
Method
♥ Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl {no need to sift}
♥ Combine oil and water, and slowly pour into dry ingredients.
♥ Mix until dough comes together.
♥ Add colouring and glitter, and knead.
♥ Refrigerate until cool or break into small balls and play with immediately.
Does it look glittery because of the salt? Or is glitter missing from the recipe? Love homemade play dough.
This is the no-fail recipe I use all the time too. I actually much prefer the texture of this homemade version compared to store-bought playdough.
And sometimes I add some fragrant oil (lavender or eucalyptus) so it smells divine.

Ooh how I love glitter! I have so many wonderful memories of playdough from when I was a kid. Who ever would have guessed that some flour and salt could be so much fun?!!
I use coconut oil instead of regular oil. Life changing
