Step-by-step instructions
- Add the chicken
Place the whole chicken into your slow cooker, breast side down (this is important).

- Add the flavour
Sprinkle the French onion soup mix evenly over the chicken.

- Slow cook
Do not add any liquid. The chicken will release plenty of juices as it cooks.
Cook on low for:
6 hours for a medium chicken
7 hours for a large chicken
- Serve
Carefully remove the chicken (it will be very soft and may fall apart).
Serve with salad, chips, veggies, rice or bread, and spoon over the cooking juices for extra flavour.

Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken
- 40g packet French onion soup mix
Instructions
- Place the chicken into the slow cooker, breast side down.
- Sprinkle the French onion soup mix over the chicken.
- Do not add any liquid.
- Cook on low for 6 hours (medium chicken) or 7 hours (large chicken).
- Remove carefully and serve with your favourite sides. Spoon over juices if desired.
Notes
The chicken creates its own liquid while cooking, so no extra is needed.
The juices can be thickened into a simple gravy if you like.
