You really are 🫶🏻 You really are 🫶🏻
👀 This year I bought my own Christmas present… 👀

Because I’m kicking off a year of me, of self care, of doing things that bring me joy. And reading is one of those things that I love, but never make time for.

2024 I will make time.

So, I joined a book club 👏 Birds of a Feather Book Club by @bookswithbecandjane They’ve *just* opened up their doors (and the doors strictly close Xmas Eve) and the membership runs from January til November. We’ll read one book a month, and the membership includes access to the friendly Facebook Group, reading notes, a private podcast and more.

Sounds perfect, right?

I’ve opted for the $99 membership (a once-off fee), where I’ll BYO my own books, but you can opt for the premium package where each book will get sent to you. Use my code FATMUMSLIM20 for $20 off!

There’s also the Rebel Reader’s Alliance for 9-12 year olds (which Lulu may find under the Xmas Tree), and The Wild Readers (for tweens and teens) and Midnight Readers (for 15yo+). The perfect gift for a beautiful year ahead.

It’s created by @rebeccasparrow72 (we worked together at Mamamia - I love her insights into parenting teens) and Jane (an English teacher in a past life, and passionate book enthusiast).

✨ Want to join me? ✨ Let’s read together! The first 5 books have been announced, and I promptly bought them so I’m ready. Don’t forget to use FATMUMSLIM20 for $20 off (bringing the BYO Books Membership down to just $79 for a whole year - the perfect self gift!).

This is a sponsored post with the beautiful team at @bookswithbecandjane. I bought the membership myself, because I think it’s a cracking idea, and I’m all in. 👏👏📖

👉 This is your annual reminder to make this eas 👉 This is your annual reminder to make this easy dessert this Christmas 🎄

This recipe doesn’t really need an intro, or even an explanation, because I’m pretty sure it’s shown up on every single table at least once in our lives, right? 👀👌

But for the non-initiated; Meet Chocolate Ripple Cake.

The cake we make when we don’t want to really make anything at all. It’s really one step short of buying a Vienetta and showing up. 🤣 (And there isn’t anything wrong with that either!).

It’s chocolate biscuits slathered in whipped cream, topped with berries. You can get fancy and add flavours to your cream, orange zest, Baileys, or even Kailua.

You need:

2 x 600ml thickened cream
2 x Chocolate Ripple biscuits (you’ll have leftovers)
1 tbsp of icing sugar
Dark chocolate, for grating
1 x punnet of strawberries
1 x punnet of raspberries
Mint leaves for decorating

Just whip the cream until light and fluffy, along with the icing sugar. Smother the cream between the biscuits and create into a wreath, or a log, or whatever shape you want. Make it pretty with berries, chocolate and little mint leaves.

And ta-da, Christmas Day dessert is done!

Do you think we can find someone that hasn’t tried this before? Let me know below! Have you eaten this before?

Time for what? 👀 Time to get festive for Photo A Day! 🎄

This list is about celebrating all things festive and fun, and ending the year with a bit of a cracking list! Are you in?

Everyone is invited/encouraged to play along. It's actually a really great way to stop and steal a moment in the craziness that December usually brings!

To play Photo A Day, all you have to do is:

📷 Look at the list for the daily prompt. For example today is CHEERS

📷 Take a photo using the prompt as inspiration. For CHEERS you could do two glasses clinking, a little hello from you (a selfie and intro to who you are, saying cheers). The opportunities are only limited by our imagination. I also have more ideas on my blog, if you need!

📷 Then it's time to share your photo! You can share it on your personal Facebook, or over in our private FMS Photo A Day Facebook group. You can also share on Instagram, just add #FMSPAD to your photo so we can see it!

📷 And then, enjoy browsing through the photos from our awesome community. Each day we pick a Fab Four on both Facebook and Instagram. Maybe yours will get picked this month!

Follow our dedicated photo a day account @fms.photoaday for all the fun

You’ll want to visit this hidden beach ✨ We f You’ll want to visit this hidden beach ✨

We first stumbled across this beach when we first moved to the Tweed, and while it’s probably not correct to call it a beach (more a little river cove), it’s the perfect family-friendly beach to visit with kids.

Friendship Beach (or Kerosene Inlet) is a bit of a mission to get to, and best if you have a 4WD because the access road is unsealed (but don’t let that put you off - just be prepared to wash your car afterwards!). Located in Fingal Head, you’ll want to follow Letitia Road along to the end, and grab a park in the small car park (go early to nab a spot).

Once you’re there, you’ll want to stay all day, so either grab a spot in the shade of the trees, or bring everything you need; shade, food, drink and supplies.

Or if you have a boat, go the Tweed River mouth, and turn right before you head out of the bar, and drop an anchor in and take a dip.

It truly is paradise ✨🌴 Save this post for later!
