✈️ Travelling to Bali? Here’s exactly what you need before you go 🌴

Bali Entry Requirements: Updated as of April, 2025

If you’re heading to Bali for a holiday under 30 days (lucky you!), there are just a few things you’ll need to organise before you land. Don’t stress—it’s super manageable. There are 4 quick steps, and I’ve listed everything below with the links and tips to make it easy.

Bali Entry Requirements: What you need to do before you go

The four essentials before you fly:

  1. Visa On Arrival (VOA) – around AUD $50
  2. Electronic Customs Declaration (ECD) – Free
  3. Health Pass – Free
  4. Tourism Levy – around AUD $15

Fees may vary, as these change with the exchange rate.

🌴 Step 1: Visa On Arrival (VOA)

You can apply online before you travel, and it’ll save you heaps of time at the airport.

👉 Apply here (this is the official site – avoid third-party websites!):
https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/web/application_bvk

Here’s how to do it:

  • Select Visa Type: B1 (Tourist Visa)
  • Use your phone to scan the bottom of your passport (it autofills everything for you!)
  • Check that all details are correct and tick the boxes
  • Add your accommodation address
  • Pay online – IDR 500,000 (approx AUD $50)
  • You’ll get a confirmation email with your e-VOA attached

💡 TIP: Screenshot your application number just in case, and check your junk folder if the email doesn’t come through straight away.

When you arrive in Bali, head straight to the e-Gates and skip the VOA queues.

  • Just scan your passport and glide through.
  • Kids 6 and over can use the gates too.
  • If you’re travelling with little ones under 6, you’ll all go through the manual Immigration counter together (usually pretty fast!).

🌴 Step 2: Electronic Customs Declaration (ECD)

This is a separate requirement from your visa and must be completed 1–72 hours before your flight.

👉 Fill it out here (free!):
https://ecd.beacukai.go.id

Make sure to keep the QR code handy on your phone or printed.

🌴 Step 3: Health Pass

You’ll also need to register for the SATUSEHAT Health Pass.

👉 Register here (again, totally free):
https://sshp.kemkes.go.id

It only takes a few minutes!

🌴 Step 4: Tourism Levy

As of 2024, Bali has introduced a Tourism Levy for international visitors. It’s IDR 150,000 (around AUD $15) per person.

👉 Pay online before your flight here:
https://lovebali.baliprov.go.id

You can pay this up to 60 days in advance, but I usually do it at the same time as my visa and ECD so I don’t forget.

✨ Other helpful info:

  • City: Choose Kota Denpasar (province autofills as Bali)
  • Airport: Select Bandara Internasional Ngurah Rai (DPS)
  • Use your phone camera when applying – it makes scanning so easy
  • Screenshot everything—just in case
  • Children under 6 can still get an e-VOA, but they’ll need to go through the manual Immigration line with an adult
  • Departure e-Gates: On your way home, use the e-Gates at the airport to scan out and reset your visa status—it’s fast and easy!
