This Vegemite pasta recipe was born out of one of those “what’s in the cupboard?” kind of nights, and it totally won me over. Think buttery, savoury, cheesy goodness with just a little Vegemite magic. It’s a comfort food hug in a bowl, made from pantry staples, inspired by Nigella Lawson’s Spaghetti with Marmite recipe (although I’ve never been a fan of Marmite!).
If you’re a Vegemite lover, you’re going to be obsessed. And if you’re still on the fence? This could be the thing that wins you over.

How to make vegemite pasta
- Cook the pasta
Fill a large pot with water and bring it to the boil. Add the spaghetti and cook for 8 minutes until tender.
- Drain and return
Turn off the heat, drain the pasta, and return it to the pot.
- Stir through the goodness
Add the butter and Vegemite straight into the pot with the spaghetti. Stir until the butter has melted and everything is well combined.
- Add cheese and serve
Plate it up and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Add more if you love it cheesy (we do!).
Vegemite pasta might raise a few eyebrows, but give it a go – it’s buttery, savoury, salty perfection. It’s become one of our favourite budget-friendly, lazy-night dinners. Give it a whirl and let me know what you think!
