Turtle Beach Resort Review: Our Gold Coast weekend of sunshine, slides and smiles

Turtle Beach Resort

Golden hours, pool days, and memory-making moments 🌞💦

Last weekend we packed up the car and headed to Turtle Beach Resort in Mermaid Beach, and it was the kind of trip that fills your cup (and your camera roll). Swimming, waterslides, tennis, markets, sunshine — and a whole lot of laughs with the kids, their friends, and my niece and nephew.

We’ve visited friends staying here before and always thought it looked great… but this was our first time staying for ourselves. And now? I get the hype.

Turtle Beach Resort

First impressions: kid-approved fun

Sure, I could tell you I was impressed (I was!) — but my opinion doesn’t matter as much as the kids’. So on the drive home, I asked Lulu and her friends (who are 11 and never short of an opinion) how they’d rate it.

Their verdict?

“9 or 10 out of 10. We LOVED it.”

And honestly, I believe them. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them happier.

📍 Turtle Beach Resort Location

Turtle Beach Resort is right on the Gold Coast Highway in Mermaid Beach, perfectly placed for a mix of beach days and exploring the Goldie.

  • 10-minute walk to the beach
  • 10-minute drive (or a 30-minute walk) to Pacific Fair
  • A short drive to all the theme parks

Plus, having Woolworths Metro, a butcher, and a chemist right next door makes things super easy if you want to self-cater or grab snacks on the go.

💸 The Costs

Prices start from around $220 per night for two people, depending on the season and apartment size. You can see more about the resort here.

🏡 Turtle Beach Resort Accommodation

The resort has 1, 2, or 3-bedroom apartments set across a lush 4.5-hectare tropical property. Ours had:

  • A full kitchen (great for easy meals)
  • A laundry (so handy with kids)
  • A comfy living space
  • Two balconies (perfect for your morning coffee or late-night chats)

Each apartment is individually owned and styled, so they’re all a little different – but every one I’ve seen has been clean, comfy, and well-equipped.

🌟 What we loved about Turtle Beach Resort

There’s so much to do, which is why it’s perfect for families — especially if you’ve got a mix of ages to entertain.

🍔 Poolside BBQs — cook dinner while the kids keep swimming

Four different swimming areas so the kids never got bored

💦 Six waterslides — an instant hit

🧘‍♀️ Adults-only pool area (a dream if you want a moment of peace)

🌡️ Four warm, bubbly spas

🎬 A 22-seat cinema showing four movies daily

👾 Games room with coin-operated video games (the teens loved this)

15-hole mini golf course (just grab clubs at reception)

🎾 Full-size tennis court with a basketball hoop

🍽️ The Deck Restaurant — huge portions, great for sharing (those nachos could have fed us all!)

Turtle Beach Resort

🧳 Good to know

🛏️ Each apartment is different, so if you’ve got preferences, call ahead and ask for what you’re after (ground floor, close to pools, etc).

🏖️ Bring your own beach towels if you can. They’re available to hire for $5, but if you’ve got room in your bag, it’s worth packing them.

Turtle Beach Resort

Would we stay again?

Absolutely. The kids are already asking when we can go back.

It’s the kind of place that’s easy, fun, and packed with things to do — whether you’re there for a weekend or a whole week. And if the kids are happy? You know it’s a winner.
