When the weather turns a little chilly, my motivation to move tends to drop right along with the temperature. But, I’ve found something that’s changing the game: thermal activewear. It’s warm (like, surprisingly warm), it still breathes, and it doesn’t make me feel like I’m wearing a ski suit just to walk the dog.
This week, I tested out a new thermal set from Active Truth while exploring a new trail near home with my choccy lab, Tama. The verdict? I’m converted. It’s so cosy it almost makes me want to pack up and move to Tasmania. Almost. Here’s what I love, why it works, and where you can get your hands on some too.
Before I get started, the personal stuff that I know you’ll ask: I’m 176cm tall, and I’m a size 24-26, wearing a 3XL in everything. I find Active Truth to be true to size.

Thermal activewear is made from insulated, heat-retaining fabrics designed to keep you warm during outdoor movement. Unlike bulky winter layers, it’s lightweight and stretchy, so you still feel free to move.
It’s leggings, and jackets that feel cozy without the puffy, marshmallow vibes.

Why I love it (and what surprised me):
Here’s what stood out while wearing it:
Cute enough for a grocery shop after the walk: Always a win!
Warm without overheating: It kept me warm on a cool morning, but didn’t make me feel sweaty once I started moving. I hate having outfit regret halfway through a walk. I didn’t.
Super soft & comfy: This set honestly feels like PJs, but it looks pulled together.
Great for layering: I could pop a puffer jacket on top when needed, but could ditch it when it warms up.

How to style it
I love pairing my thermal leggings with a tee (for this in between weather) and I can imagine I’ll wear an oversized jumper for a comfy school drop-off look. On the trail, I add sneakers, a cap, and my dog (obviously). Bonus: it all layers easily under a jacket if the weather turns. It’s definitely not bulky.

Final thoughts: Is it worth it?
If you spend time outdoors during the cooler months—whether you’re walking the dog, doing the school run, or trying to get some steps in – thermal activewear is totally worth adding to your wardrobe. Especially if you live in cooler climates. It’s practical, cute, and makes winter movement feel just that bit easier.

📸 P.S. – See it in action
I shared a reel of me wearing this set on IG, from mirror to a new walking trail we found. It’s giving “weekend comfort meets beginner adventurer” and I’m into it. 😂
