My friend Rebel and I have a running chat on Facebook Messenger. It’s mostly a mix of our Bravo show recaps (we love the chaos), Housewife drama, the occasional school mum panic (“Is it mufti tomorrow… AGAIN?”), and random links to things we think the other person will love.
A few weeks ago, she messaged me with a link and said, “You need this dress.”
She was right.
I’m a maxi dress girl through and through—long sleeves, a full swishy skirt, and a darker colour? That’s my fashion love language. This dress ticks every single box. It’s the Cameron V-Neck Maxi Dress from City Chic (currently $74.98), and I’m wearing a size 24 (for reference, I’m usually a 24/26).

The sleeves are a little sheer, which works perfectly for a Gold Coast winter – you know, those two and a half weeks of “cold” weather we get before we’re back to sweating in the sunshine. And can we talk about the cuff detail? So simple, so pretty. It adds just the right bit of polish.
In the photo below, I wore it with boots, but I’ve also paired it with sandals on warmer days. It’s one of those versatile pieces that feels comfy but makes you look put together. I’m officially in love.

More plus-size maxi dresses I’m loving for autumn
If you’re like me and love an easy, one-and-done outfit that still feels like a whole vibe, a maxi dress is the ultimate go-to. Autumn is such a good time for them too—layer them up with a denim jacket, add boots, or keep it simple with sandals on those warmer days (because let’s be real, autumn in Australia doesn’t always mean chilly).
Here are a few more plus-size maxi dresses I’ve found recently that are giving comfort, style, and that “I didn’t try but look and feel fabulous” energy:

CITY CHIC
Stellar Beauty Print Maxi Dress, $159.95
Why I love it
Well, for starters – that colour. I’m a sucker for pink, and that’s the prettiest pink I ever did see. I love the cuff on the sleeve, the full skirt, and the tie to give it more shape.
👗 Sizes 12 to 24

POETIC GYPSY
Venice Beach Maxi Dress, $149.99
Why I love it
This is my favourite shape for a maxi – I love a little cinch at the waist, a full skirt, and ruffles always make me happy. I particularly love the sleeve. The whole dress is so pretty!
👗 Sizes 10 to 24

ASOS
Curve long sleeved dress, $86.25
Why I love it
One word: ruffles. I do love a ruffle, and I think this is such a beautiful colour. This oversized fit won’t be for everyone, but it’s so easy to throw on, and makes me think of fun holidays.
👗 Sizes 18 to 30

FOREVER NEW
Tara printed dress, $209.99
Why I love it
The Tara printed dress is probably the most versatile of all the dresses. I’d happily wear with boots on the weekend, sneakers for a fun take, or a low heel for meetings and serious stuff.
👗 Sizes 16 to 24

BIRDSNEST
The roll neck knit maxi dress, $119.95
Why I love it
If you’ve never worn a knit dress, I encourage you to try this winter. It’s so nice throwing on a cosy dress, and it works with sneakers or boots, and always looks stylish (no real effort required).
👗 Sizes S to XXL

PROUD POPPY
Bonnie maxi dress, $104.95
Why I love it
This Bonnie Maxi is a style I have in my own wardrobe (in black) and I wear it year round – paired with a leather jacket and boots in winter, and sandals and a smile in summer. Never ever fails me!
👗 Sizes 6 to 30
Whether you’re dressing up, dressing down, or just trying to make it through the week in something comfy—there’s a maxi dress out there for you.
I hope this post helps you find the one. Or two. Or five. No judgment. 😄
