This is a sponsored post for Disney.
As I sat down to write this post my doorbell rang. And I smiled. Not because it was my lovely parcel lady delivering things I may have purchased online {and probably at around that 1:30am feed time when I’m particularly vulnerable}, but because my doorbell plays the tune of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. How apt.
It’s not the only Little Mermaid ‘thing’ in the house. The bath tub has Ariel swimming around in it each night, along with a washer-glove in the shape of Ariel’s head. Tucked away in the dress-ups is a well worn Ariel costume {well, two in fact} and we have various Little Mermaid episodes recorded on our Foxtel to watch on our lazy days.
On the day I got an email letting me know that Disney’s The Little Mermaid was about to be re-released Lacey had gone to school with a looooong red plait in her hair from her Ariel costume. We have a very dedicated Little Mermaid fan in our house, so I pretty much had to help promote the re-release… and be the best mum in the world at the same time. Parenting win.
On September 11 {this year} Walt Disney Studios is releasing a digitally restored The Little Mermaid on DVD and Blu-ray. I might be showing my age, but I used to watch The Little Mermaid almost every Saturday as a kid and used to love Sebastian best. So now it’s with much delight {which might be obvious in the Ariel paraphernalia strewn around our house} that I’m carrying on the adoration to a new generation.
It’s that same beautiful animation and Academy Award-winning soundtrack, all digitally restored to make it even better for the next generation of viewers. It’s available for purchase on September 11th.
To celebrate the re-release I wanted to do something a little bit fun, so I thought doing a week-long photo a day competition would be a brilliant way to celebrate. Don’t you agree? You can get involved, or even get the kids to get behind the camera and just by doing so you could win a The Little Mermaid prize pack. Below you’ll find the list:
To play along all you have to do is share at least one photo from the challenge list. Up for grabs is one major prize which includes 2 doll sets, 4 book set and a Blu-Ray of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. There will also be 4 runner-up prizes which include a DVD and book set. See below how to play.
Facebook: Simply share your photos on my page and tag them with #TheLittleMermaidFMS
Instagram: Just share your photos to your feed and hashtag with #TheLittleMermaidFMS
Blog: Just leave a comment below sharing your photo. Easy.
The Photo A Day challenge kicks off on September 9th, so get snapping!
{boring bits}
Competition opens September 9th 2013 and closes September 16th 2013 at 11:59pm.
I will pick the winners from all three places: Facebook, Instagram or here in the comments.
The winner will be judged on creativity.
My decision is final.
And the winning photos are…
Main prize winner: @kluvswhr
Runner-up winners: Tessa Healy, @clareb8, Jo-anne Hart & @daisy_j_wells
Is this contest only for Australia residents?

Aww I used to watch The Little Mermaid every day when I was 5! And I can proudly say that I still know the lyrics to the songs by heart – and I was able to recite most of the lines when I watched it last time as an adult. =D
I think that Little Mermaid has one of the most singable soundtracks of all time! Can’t wait to play along for a week 🙂
