How To Play Photo A Day

Photo A Day is a hugely popular photography challenge which began way back in 2012. It’s a beautiful community project where every day people all over the world share photos, with over 25 MILLION photos have been shared to date. It’s HUGE.

Everyone is welcome to play along, and we’re inviting you to join in too.

Here’s how it works:

? Each month a new photo a day list is revealed with daily prompts to inspire you to take a photo each day. They could be words like yellow, or open, or big, or light, or food, or really anything that will get you to start thinking creatively.

? Each day you’ll simply look at the list, use the prompt as inspiration and take a photo. See? I told you it was easy. Don’t worry if you’re not the most awesome photographer in the world {I’ll tell you a secret, I’m not either}. The Photo A Day challenge is for everyone; beginners to brilliant. It’s not a competition.

? Next, share your photo. You can share where ever you like. We have a busy Photo A Day Facebook group that I’d encourage you to join and share your photos there, alternatively {or additionally} share to Instagram placing the hashtag #FMSPAD in your caption so we can find your photos!

? Each day the lovely Jen chooses four awesome photos shared on the #FMSPAD hashtag and shares them on the @LittleMomentsApp Instagram account. You can check them out by following @LittleMomentsApp on Instagram. In our Facebook group we have a group of beautiful moderators who choose the Fab Four each day too. It’s a great way to celebrate photos and community members.

? You can see the latest list by clicking RIGHT HERE. You can also grab the Photo A Day iPhone & iPad App by clicking RIGHT HERE. If you want the list emailed to you each month, subscribe RIGHT HERE.

If you’ve got any questions, you can just leave a comment below and I’ll pop back and help you out. Have fun, and I look forward to checking out your photos.

  1. Thank you so much for starting this challenge! It has changed my life by giving me a creative outlet I so desperately need in my life <3

  2. I have enjoyed the challenges you have send, however I do not belong to twitter, facebook, instagram – instead I post my photographs on flickr. If i set up a Fat Mum Slim group on flickr are there any other followers of yours who will join that group?

  3. I love this…I just started taking pictures September 2016. I just joined this week and find myself thinking that’ll be a good one for the this day and that day. I know there is no bumping…but what if it is a question for us amateur? Explain for the rainbow day I took it in a church w no flash…but I am still learning the aperture and shutter settings. May I ask those type of question when I originally posted?

  4. Oh just as I switched back from iphone to android I read about this cool ap! Although I do take photos daily so guess Im taking part anyways 🙂

    Love photography!

  5. I can’t see where to find where it said how to photograph a word for the photo s day. It was a word that is unsure of the meaning and not know how to take photos for it. It said to click the link and it has not said nothing bout examples of what photos to take for the specific photo a day words and how to post it etc
    Thanks hunny

  6. I downloaded the little moments app on a different phone and cannot retrieve all the text and designs. I paid for the package on my other phone though… can you help 🙁
