Beautiful post. My Phoebe is still in her cot but she loves getting in under the covers of her sister’s beds so it will be time soon to transition her. But like you, I like that she’s in her own little space where she can’t escape.
Yeah, and the unknown is scary… what if it all goes pear-shaped?!?
So far so good.
I can’t believe Phoebe is big enough for a big bed. 🙁
I keep thinking I should get a bed for my boy but I am like you I don’t want him getting up in the middle of the night!
Ha, yes – stay in the cot as long as possible, I reckon!
Both of my kids ended up in full sized singles at 18 months old as they were too big for their cots – it actually meant it was easier to snuggle with them (and yes I was known to curl up in their cots when they were unwell!)
I am loving the little snuggles, I have to admit. 🙂
The Little Mister thought his bed was still a tiny jail for ages too! I was so grateful!!! That lasted until he turned 4! I think we got a good run out of him haha.
I think you just know when it’s time for them to have a big bed – we went entirely by feel and it really was just right for all of us when it happened x
Yeah, it’s definitely a feeling. Hopefully I have a few years before she realises she can escape!
Oh Ikea, the best and the most evil in one. Sounds like your girl was ready to be big and for her and your sleep, it’s going to be a positive step. Time seems to go double pace when it comes to milestones and growing up doesn’t it? FREAKY!
It does, and I’m not happy about it. It’s super freaky. xx
I’ve just done this too ? Unfortunately mine is well aware of her new nocturnal freedom. I want the cot back for more than just sentimental reasons!!!
Ha, I am scared of this. Last night she wouldn’t go to sleep – so I left her in her bed for a bit, and she wasn’t happy… but she still didn’t get out. She still thinks she’s stuck there!
That’s about the sweetest picture ever, Chantelle! And a very moving story about a bittersweet transition. Love reading your posts. 🙂
Thanks Laurel. My heart is still a bit achey!
Beautiful ans hugs mamma
Thanks Lisa. xxx
Ohhh sweet little darling! I remember when we transferred Charlotte at around 2.5. When she started trying to climb out..she was sweet for 3 nights until she realised she could just get out if she wanted! Aaarrrr! Isaac is now 26mo and thankfully still happy in the cot…but as it turns out, someone else is going to need it later in the year, so his time is limited? Eeek!
LOZ! Congratulations!!!!!!
Ohh thanks lovely! Early days, but I am just dreadful at keeping my own secrets! Ohh and when hubby is out late at night at rugby, I totally let Charlotte stay up late so she falls asleep on the couch while I watch telly and avoid the bedtime drama! Ha! Whatever works!
