How To Rock Instagram Like A Superstar: @ourbeautiful_adventure
Hello! I hope you’re having a beautiful day so far. Speaking of beautiful, today I want to share Rachael with you, her photos are simply stunning. All her photos are faceless, so I love the hint of mystery. It’s beautiful. Read on to the end to find out how to achieve that beautiful, faded look on your photos.
Tell us a little about you.
I’m Rachael, I live on the beautiful South Wales coast with my husband and our 3 children. I love the outdoors and living so close to both the beach and the mountains is a dream come true. I’ve been a stay at home mum for the last 8 years, my youngest will be starting school next year and I’ll have to start thinking about returning to work, and since I haven’t yet found a way to slow time down I’m soaking up every last minute.
How did you get into photography or photo-taking? When did it all begin for you?
I did photography at school, back in the days of film, we had a dark room and I fell in love. But somewhere in the change over to digital I got lost and my film camera started gathering dust and photos were something I took occasionally on my phone but nothing more. But then for my 30th birthday back in 2014 my husband bought me a DSLR and just like that my love for photography was reawakened. I joined Instagram a few months later and it just helped me fall even more in love with photography. Having somewhere to share my photos with people who share the love and also learning so much from others and getting inspiration too.
What do you love taking photos of most?
My kids and the beach, preferably at the same time, but I only share faceless photos of them on Instagram. So that’s forced me to get more creative with how I capture them and has meant I’ve developed a real love for nature and landscape photography too.
What are your favourite Apps for editing?
Vsco, vsco and erm, vsco. Every now and then I might play around with other apps like pic tap go and snapseed and I do my professional editing in Lightroom. But for my Instagram I’m all about vsco. There are so many different filters, and you can make a lot of adjustments with the tools too. It’s definitely my favourite.
Can you share a recent favourite photo of yours – and take us through how you edited it?
I took this photo with my go pro, and edited it in VSCO. I applied the F2 filter (at full strength) and then in the tools I set temp to +2, contrast +1, fade +4, tint +1, saturation +1, shadows +1, highlights +3, clarity +1. I also straightened the horizon in VSCO too.
