cheese rolls

When one of my beautiful Fat Mum Slim readers, Karyn, sent through this recipe, I knew I had to try it. I mean… cheese, bread, and a creamy French onion mix? That’s basically the holy trinity of snacks.

These cheese rolls are super simple, packed with flavour, and a total crowd-pleaser. They only need four ingredients, take barely any time to prep, and come out golden and moorish – like something you’d bring to a party and instantly regret because everyone wants the recipe.

Whether you’re looking for a fun after-school snack, something new for lunchboxes, or a bite-sized party food idea – this one’s a winner.

👩🏻‍🍳 How to make cheese rolls

  1. Preheat and prep

Preheat your oven to 170ºC (fan-forced). Line a baking tray with baking paper.

  2. Make the cheesy mix

In a medium saucepan, combine the evaporated milk, soup mix, and grated cheese. Stir over medium heat until the cheese is melted and everything is combined. Let the mixture cool slightly.

  3. Build the rolls

Cut the crusts off the bread slices, and roll with a rolling pin to make slightly flat. Spread the cheesy mixture generously over each slice. Roll the bread up tightly. You can use toothpicks to hold them together if needed.

  4. Bake to perfection

Place the rolls seam-side down on your tray. Brush with a little melted butter for extra golden goodness. Bake for 10–15 minutes or until golden brown.

  5. Serve

Serve warm with sweet chilli sauce or your favourite dipping sauce. Try not to eat the whole tray yourself (no judgment if you do).
