cheese and garlic scrolls

There are some recipes that just stop everyone in their tracks… and these cheese and garlic scrolls are one of them. The smell alone is enough to bring people out of their rooms (or in my husband’s case, out of a deep post-night-shift sleep).

They’re buttery, cheesy, garlicky and golden — basically everything you want in a comfort food snack. Even better, they’re made with puff pastry, so they’re quick and easy enough to whip up any day of the week.

These little scrolls are perfect for after-school snacks, footy nights, parties, or just because you feel like something ridiculously good. Trust me when I say, they disappear fast!

How to make cheese and garlic scrolls

  1. Prep your tray

Preheat your oven to 180ºC and lightly oil a muffin tray (this helps the scrolls hold their shape).

  2. Fill the pastry

Lay a thawed puff pastry sheet on a chopping board. Spread generously with garlic butter (homemade or store-bought), then sprinkle over a handful of grated tasty cheese.

  3. Roll & cut

Roll the pastry up tightly, then slice into 1.5–2cm thick pieces. Place each scroll into the muffin tray cavity.

  4. Bake until golden

Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until puffed, golden and smelling amazing.

  5. Serve & enjoy

These cheese and garlic scrolls are best eaten warm, but honestly, they’re delicious no matter what. Just try not to eat them all at once!
