Visiting the (self-proclaimed) number one spa in Bali

Bali Spa: Zahra

There are a lot of spas in Bali. A lot.
From tiny street-side foot massage places to luxe, all-day spa experiences, you’re spoiled for choice.

And while I love trying new places, there’s one spa I keep coming back to every time we’re in Bali.

This visit was to Zahra Spa, a place that proudly calls itself the number one spa in Bali. Is that claim official? I don’t know. But after multiple visits across different trips, I can confidently say it’s a place I rate and happily return to again and again.

Why we chose this spa

This visit came from a reader recommendation, and that always carries weight for me. I’m much more likely to try somewhere when it comes with a “we loved it” from someone who’s actually been.

The final thing that sold me?
Complimentary transport.

Zahra Spa offers free pick-up from your resort and will take you back once your treatment is finished. When you’re on holiday and just want everything to feel easy, that detail alone is a huge win.

First impressions and the vibe

Let’s talk about the vibe, because it’s… a lot 😅

The decor is very OTT. Lots of gold. Lots of shine. Big statements everywhere you look. It’s not minimalist, and it’s definitely not subtle — but it’s fun, polished, and clearly intentional.

As you walk in, you’re greeted by a giant flower sign that reads “Happy Wife, Happy Life”, which Shane and I joke about often (but, let’s be honest, there’s some truth in it).

Despite the over-the-top styling, the experience itself doesn’t feel fussy or intimidating. It’s luxe, but relaxed. Friendly, not pretentious.

The treatments I’ve tried (and what I recommend)

Across different visits, I’ve tried a range of treatments here, including:

  • Foot massages
  • Full body massages
  • Ear candling
  • Hair cream treatments

If you only do one thing, make it the hair cream treatment. And if you have time, do it more than once.

It includes a head massage, neck and shoulder massage, and a nourishing hair treatment that’s especially good if you deal with frizz or dryness (hello, Bali humidity). It’s easily my favourite treatment here and something I look forward to every visit.

Practical details you’ll want to know

📍 Location: Nusa Dua

What I love:

  • The treatments: Huge menu and consistently great quality
  • Availability: I usually book the day before and have always been able to get in
  • Pricing: Not as cheap as street spas, but the price reflects the more luxe experience
  • Transport: Complimentary pick-up and drop-off from your resort

What I don’t love:
Honestly, nothing. The decor isn’t my personal style, but it makes me smile every time.

Is it really the number one spa in Bali?

Look, I can’t officially verify that claim.
But what I can say is this: I’ve been multiple times, tried different treatments, and have always left feeling relaxed, looked after, and glad we booked it.

For me, that’s the mark of a place worth recommending.

If you’re visiting Bali and want a spa experience that feels indulgent, reliable, and easy, this is one I’d happily suggest.
