Turn noodles into family meals + win a $150 Woolworths voucher!

Brought to you by MAGGI.

As a food lover, particularly vegetables, I can’t begin to explain how heart-breaking it is to have a very fussy-eater in the family. Bring out the violins. It breaks my heart. Lacey is a good little eater and will give anything a try, but Lulu… well she’s a little bit harder work. Our fall-back food, the meal that will ALWAYS fill her tummy and make her happy is MAGGI 2 minute noodles. But because she’s fussy, they have to be done the right way. They have to be without the flavour, and there needs to be some crunchy noodles in the bowl for her, as well as the perfectly soft ones too. FUSSY. Just writing that sentence I realised I might be part of the problem, by simply not being tougher on her and surrendering to her fussy food requests.

So, we always have noodles in the cupboard. ALWAYS. Lacey likes hers with chicken stock and extra flavour. Hubby does a weird thing where he adds in butter and whatever he can find in the fridge. I prefer mine made into a meal, a chicken soup preferably. Noodles are incredibly versatile, and the flavour/meal combos are endless – something I’m especially grateful for given the many different ways we eat them. They’re filled with the goodness of invisible wholegrain too.

Today I’m sharing three recipes that turn those humble noodles into family-sized meals, packed with flavour. They’re really easy to make, but delicious to eat.

CRUNCHY NOODLE SALAD

This is such a delicious and easy recipe! You can turn it into a meal by adding leftover shredded chicken or make it a side dish. It goes really well with roasted pork belly.

To make: Simply combine, 2 cups shredded cabbage, 4 tablespoons slivered almonds, toasted, 3 spring onions sliced, 1 carrot grated, 1 cup BBQ chicken shredded and 1 x MAGGI Wholegrain Chicken 2 minute noodles into a serving dish. In a small bowl add 1 tablespoon of caster sugar and 3/4 cup boiling water and stir until dissolved. Add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar, 1/4 cup olive oil, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. Stir and pour over salad. Serve immediately.

HAM & VEGGIE NOODLE MUFFINS

These make the perfect light dinner, just serve them with salad… or make them and pop them in lunchboxes.

To make: Preheat your oven to 180ºC, and spray 8 muffin cups with cooking spray. Cook one packed of MAGGI Wholegrain Chicken 2 minute noodles as the directions on the packet state. Place into a bowl. Add in 1 large carrot grated, and 1 zucchini grated, 2 eggs, 125ml of sour cream, the  1/2 cup chopped ham, and 1/2 cup tasty cheese. Stir to combine and then scoop into the muffin cases. Top with half a cherry tomato and place into the oven. Cook for 35 minutes.

SUPER QUICK ASIAN SOUP

This is my favourite easy dinner. The ginger and coriander make it taste like comfort food. If you like things a little spicy, add in some fresh chilli.

To make: Place one packet of MAGGI Wholegrain Chicken 2 minute noodles in a saucepan with 2 cups of chicken stock, and 2 cups of water. Add in the chicken flavouring sachet, 1 tsp of ginger, 1 cup shredded cooked chicken, 1 spring onion sliced, and 1/4 cup coriander leaves. Bring to the boil, and serve immediately.

I would love to hear how you mix up your MAGGI 2 minute noodles. Share below in the comments how you eat yours, and the most creative recipe will win a $150 Woolworths Gift Card and a MAGGI hamper so they can get creative in the kitchen too. Competition closes December 1st at 11:59pm, and is open to Australian residents only. One entry per household.Save

  1. With the salad, do you cook the noodles before adding them to the salad or just smash the noodles up and add them raw?

  2. I LIVED on 2 minute noodles as a kid & teen. I was beyond fussy but like Lulu, noodles always made me happy. In fact, as a 38 year old they still do, especially if they are squished between slices of fresh white bread slathered in butter. Yum! And we ALWAYS have noodles in the pantry. I class them as a staple because all 4 of my kids eat them- I likes them uncooked from the packet just like I did in my school days. 2 minute noodles are my nostalgia food!
But if I’m trying to eat like a healthy grown up I’ll shred some purple cabbage, some wombok & carrot, fry them in a little oil & garlic then toss the cooked noodles through. Then I like to pop a fried egg on top, some fried shallots, crushed cashews & a squirt of siracha or chilli oil.SO. GOOD. Or my kids love a noodle omelette. Quick & easy dinner that gets devoured by all. I’m winning as a mum when that happens!

  3. Mixed with veges and stir fry sauce
As part of a crunchy wombock salad
    Glutenous cheesy noodles are yum
Gooey noodles in chicken noodle soup
In chocolate and peanut butter sweet spiders they make.

  4. Loved reading about the girls and 2 minute noodles as it took me back to Grandma days when 2 granddaughters would eat this for default lunch!
So I have always kept packets of Maggi 2 Minute Noodles Chicken Flavour in my pantry but not till this year did I discover them!
As you know I have had major mouth surgery for cancer and only have (for now!) a very unusual palate & upper gums (thanks right leg for your help!) and 8 teeth remaining on my lower jaw.
What to eat? After my surgery and getting better and onto soft foods I was quickly bored with the usual custard, yoghurt, mash meals which can be easily swallowed with no real chewing. So I was also told my iron levels were single figures and somehow needed to get some red meat into me (Along with iron tabs).
I am nothing if not creative and add hunger to the mix and away I go as I tend to be a cook by taste/smell and texture.
Here’s my way of eating red meat!
Prepare the 2. Minute noodles in the usual way and let them sit in the boiled water with flavour sachet added.
Meantime, finely dice small piece of fillet steak (around palm size) and add to a prepared pan that has melted butter, barbecue sauce, some soy or other flavour and some diced onion (frozen) bubbling away. Add the meat quickly and brown only as medium rare makes it easier to eat. Drain the noodles and here is where it is the best thing for me… with scissors cut those noodles into easy to swallow lengths and then thrown them in with the sauce and steak to blend flavours. Take the whole lot out of the pan, put in a bowl and (for me) using a teaspoon eat a most delicious meal. Because it takes while for me to “eat” this I can divide the meal into two bowls and have one the next night.
Slippery foods like the 2 minute noodles are really helping my recovery and I am so grateful that I can eat well because of them!

  5. Boil noodles in stock in a small pot, while boiling when noodles are soft swirl them around in the pot to make a ‘whirlpool’ and crack an egg in the middle, poach the egg and serve with some of the stock in a bowl with any garnish you like (I like chopped shallots and a bit of chilli). The poached egg yolk is all silky on the noodles mmmm.

Mix grated cheese, chopped ham or salami, tomato and a bit of oregano through drained hot noodles, the cheese melts and goes gooey, kids call it pizza noodles.

Stir fry a bit of cabbage & grated carrot (or any veg you like) add drained hot noodles, stir through sweet soy sauce, then top with crunchy fried shallots, a fried egg, chopped inner celery leaves (or coriander) and sliced fresh chilli to taste.

Quick work lunch – stir a dollop of pesto (I like sundried tomato), a handful of baby spinach leaves, and a small tin of tuna through drained hot noodles and top with grated parmesan.

Stir fry finely diced red onions with chicken mince, lime juice, Tom Yum paste, Thai basil (and chilli if you like it spicy), stir through drained hot noodles and a big handful of fresh chopped coriander leaves.

  6. Maggi Noodles with chicken and vegetables is a family hit!
Cook the veggies then splash in soy sauce just a bit,
Then add sliced chicken while you sip some wine,
Maggi 2 minute Noodles boil in no time,
Toss together and you’ll have a quick and easy meal,
My fussy kids even go back for seconds which is unreal.

  7. I would always eat my 2 minute noodles with honey, soy and garlic sauce through them instead of the flavour sachets! It was like a stir fry without the veggies!! Now my kids eat them too!

  8. we like to add shredded chicken, grated carrot and zucchini (so tiny the kids can not tell that its a vegetable) a little bit of sweet chilli sauce (very mild) grated cheese sprinkled on top. Most important is trying to eat it with chopsticks so we also have a bit of a laugh at our failed attempts

  9. I like to break up maggi 2 minute noodles add ham tomato shredded chicken breast a little bit of flour whisked egg salt and pepper and grated cheese and grated zucchini and carrot and make a everything type of slice that can be eaten warm or cold.

  10. For my kids parties I make chocolate spiders that has maggi 2 min noodle chocolate peanut butter sultanas and marshmallows and put in patty pans and they look like little spiders kids love them and the big ones to

  11. Making fritters out of them. Mix the cooked noodles with eggs, veges, chicken, meat or whatever leftovers you have in the fridge (alternatively whatever you have in your pantry like tinned veges) and then fry lightly in a pan. Not only tasty but a good way to hide some of the things you children might not normally eat.

  12. Super quick tuna mornay … cook Maggi 2 Minute Noodles in boiling water in microwave with very small pieces broccoli (save chicken seasoning) & drain. Place noodles & broccoli in bottom of greased oven dish. Flake over large can of tuna (drained). In a bowl mix a can of cream of celery soup, chicken seasoning, can of creamed corn, garlic powder, juice 1/2 lemon & 1 can lite evaporated milk – mix. Pour over noodle / tuna mix & sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake in hot oven 30m until bubbly & brown ☺☺☺

    • I think grate tomato sieve seeds and chuck skin oil in pan fry diced onions add tomato and paste add made noodles and you can add eggs or chicken on side little oil to fry dalt and pepper and you have noodle bolonaise.

  13. Unicorn noodle stir fry;
In the middle of the dinner table put little bowls (seperate) of cooked whole grain Maggi noddles, raw spiralised carrot and zucchini, cooked spiralised pumpkin, raw thinly sliced capsicum and squash. Aiming for a different colour with each food.
Add a bowl of lightly stir fried chicken, beef or pork.
Then add a flavouring option – I like a little jug of miso soup
Then each person selects what they want from each bowl and tops with miso soup (or other flavouring) ….. Result is an individual colourful bowl of ‘unicorn stir fry’
Some kids will only want to take the plain noodles and meat …. And that’s ok …. But encouraging them to make their bowl colourful helps them to include more veggies than they usually might …. Even if they don’t choose the veggies first time on the second or third or tenth time they may just!
And it also helps if they get a say in what veggies they’d like to include and also be involved in the spiralising

  14. They’re great for making chow mein.
Brown 500g mince, 3 rashers bacon (diced) and a diced brown onion. Add in half a cabbage (sliced) and 2 carrots (grated). Mix chicken flavour sachet from Maggi chicken 2 minute noodles with 500mls hot water then pour into mince mixture. Add a few splashes each of soy sauce and worcestershire sauce and a good squirt of BBQ sauce. Mix through. Add broken in half noodles from the Maggi chicken 2 minute noodles packet and stir through as they soften. Simmer, allowing noodles and cabbage to cook until soft. Add more liquid as necessary.

  15. Chicken/tuna pesto noodles.
Cook two minute noodles as instructed. Cut up/shred cooked chicken breast or use canned tuna. ( you can use a cooked chicken from the shop too)Add a jar or two if needed of basil pesto, sun dried tomatoes or chopped capsicum to the chicken. Add noodles to chicken/tuna mixture and stir through. Serve with garlic bread. Bon appetite!!

  16. I love to make 2 minute noodle cakes for my 3 year old. I put 2 packets cooked noodles with 6 eggs, add chopped ham, cheese, peas, corn and some shallots. Mix together and cook in the fry pan. She loves them!

  17. I have the drumsticks marinading right now!
Teriyaki drumsticks, in the slowcooker. Come home from work, strip the meat from the bones, stirfry some carrots, broccoli, onion. Serve it all on a bed of noodles.

  18. No long recipe here, but being a busy mum I love to substitute pasta for two minute noodles. I often make batches of spag bolonaise sauce or carbonara and the 2min noodles are quick to cook up when we get home from swimming and sports. A healthy fast dinner – winning!

  21. My super lazy but ticks all the boxes dinner: 2 packs maggi noodles, 185g tin of tuna, a dash of oyster sauce and 2 cups frozen veg (love the stir fry ones but whatever the kids eat in your house). Cook noodles, toss veg into the hot noodles in broth and let sit while you chase kids. Strain, add 1 of the flavor sachets plus the sauce, strain tuna. Mix through. Catch kids and wash hands. Watch them eat it up.

  22. my favourite way to eat 2 minute noodles is pop them on a bowl, cover with boiling water and let them sit. meanwhile in a hot frypan, stir fry minced beef with garlic, sliced springonion, the flavour sachet (I usually use chicken) and lots of onion powder. I like to keep it as a dry mix. drain the noodles and add them to the pan and combine. see and enjoy.
If im feeling the need for veg with it I add shredded cabbage and grated carrot and sometimes even some curry powder and soy sauce to the meat so it’s alomst chow mein which is my next favourite way to use 2 minute noodles
    hmmmm yummy
looks like I’m cooking noodles for lunch today ?

  23. Maggi Noodle stirfry;
    tasty chicken strips
    seasoned with the chicken flavour
from the noodle packet, and garlic.
    As many fresh vegies as you like;
    we use carrots, beans, cauliflower,
    broccoli, mushroom and onion.
    Sprinkle some bacon throughout
    and your cooked noodles
for a delicious, nutritious and healthy
meal even the kids will enjoy!

  24. We use noodles in so many ways from the quick bowl variety when camping to adding as part of a meal.
For me its cooking in a sealed container with boiling water on the bench while i fry up some bits and pieces, left over diced meat, garlic, ginger, chilli maybr some capsicum, zucchini and shallots if we have some too.
Drain the noodles and toss all together in the frypan over residual heat and add a little soy sauce.

For hubs its ina suacepan to cook the noodles adding an egg or two towards the end of cooking and stirring to break it up. Strain in a fine strainer so we loose little but the water…. retaining about 1/3 of a cup to add back in, add flavour sachet and a littlw chopped shallot/spring onion and enjoy.

The kids are happy with what we call lazy night. A cup, bottom covered with frozen diced or small veg boiling water to cover those… lid in for 2 minutes. Break up noodle cake from packet add to cup cover with water add lid and leave on bench for 2-4 minutes, strain most of the water away, add flavour sachet, stir and enjoy…. their very own cup-o-noodles that can be customised for their veg choice.

I heat a little olive oil and fry veggies (what ever veggies are in season) then add diced bacon till brown. Add two eggs and mix until cooked. Add noodles and a little soy sauce and serve. So yummy and quick and all three kids including my fussy son loves this.

  27. Our quick and easy way to use them is to have tomato soup, bacon and if I can get it into small enough pieces onion. I brown the bacon and onion then add the cooked noodles (with or without flavouring) depending on our mood and then the tomato soup and simmer for a bit to warm the soup and it makes a great easy pasta meal without heaps of mess. Noodles are great as they are thin and light!

  28. Cooked noodles drained with or without flavour sachet. small tin Sirena tuna, sliced black olives, sundried tomatoes, fresh tomatoes, avo , cucumber then dress with favourite dressing if you wish. yummy quick lunch!

  29. Well…
Back in uni, my flatmate had the best ghetto recipe for garlic prawn noodles ever.
    cheap as, tastes amazing.
frozen prawns, minced garlic, cream. heat the prawns in a HEAP of garlic (you can never add too much garlic!), and then add cream. simmer for a bit, add the noodles (without the flavouring – you can use that to sprinkle over roast veggies!) and cook until the noodles are soft.
Give it a swirl and DONE.
And we used to feel so fancy 😉

My kids love it now too 😀

  30. Make up noodles as per packet drain add in two to four eggs, mixed canned veg, cup of grated cheese, cup of flour salt and pepper to taste mix pour into a baking tray and bake for 40mins and thats your noodle bake yum

  32. During Melbourne’s gas strike in the 90s, I created Mel’s Microwave Chicken Noodles! Chicken, Maggi instant noodles, mushrooms, corn, shallots and water, cooked perfectly in a microwave jug!! Budget friendly for my poor flat mate & I, and a yummy hot meal when we struggled to cook anything else without gas!

  33. I use them in my prawn head soup! (thats what I call it) First I make the prawn head stock by simmering the shells and heads from a kilo of prawns for 90 minutes. Once strained I put a tablespoon each of chilli, garlic and ginger and 2 sachets of Miso into the stock. Add chopped fresh asian greens, spring onions and whatever other veges I have available and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the 2 minute noodles and simmer till cooked. 34. I quickly blanch them and then add to my zucchini fritters. My Mum did this for us and my kids love it as much as we did.

My hipster noodle hack is for my 13 year old daughter who hangs out with the “salad gang” at school. I make her a crunchy noodle salad – but layered in a jar. All very Pinterest and the other girls rate her salad as the best! She loves me for it and it takes 2 minutes the night before.

Nothing like a good bowl of Maggo chicken noodles when you have had a few too many sparklings the night before… classic is often the best!

Cook the noodles (don’t add flavouring!)
In a separate bowl combine 2 eggs and a splash of milk, a dash of cream, a hand full of chopped bacon and onion. Add some herbs and spices of your choosing (I usually go with just a sprinkle of garlic powder)

  37. Sometimes tossed up with veges, soemtimes with some chicken chunks and the other times maggi Noodles all alone give me the best comfort food at home.7

  38. My FAVOURITE thing to make with Maggi noodles is Chocolate Spiders! Mix up some chocolate, or chocolate chips (one packet) with a spoonful of peanut butter, pop in the microwave for a minute until melted, then add your crunches up noodles (keep the flavour packet for your next stir fry!). Then you stir, and pop a heaped spoonful onto greasepoof paper in little ‘spiders’. Leave in the fridge to set for an hour or two. Voila! Chocolate and noodle goodness for the whole family. Yum!

  39. Love to eat Maggi Noodles as is but in a noodle eating competition, however many competitors, cook noodles for 2 minutes then drain most of the juice, pop in a bowl then the clock starts, first to eat all the noodles with no hands only mouth wins ?

  40. Cook noodles, drain all liquid and set aside. Stir fry onion, tuna and diced zucchini. Add noodles and toss through…. YUM!! (You can also add chilli as an option)

    Chocolate haystack Christmas trees.
Melt white chocolate, add broken up dry noodles and peanuts and mini marshmelows. I use a Christmas tree cookie cutter as a guide to get the tree shape and i sprinkle red and green sprinkles on top. Chuck them in the fridge to set. kids love them!

  43. I’m super boring and eat them the old fashion way. Although I could add some bbq chook and a handful of baby spinach leaves. Yum now I’m hungry!!! ?

  44. We just cook them up in bone broth, especially if someone is coming down with or has a bug. Great confort meal, no hassle. Can use flavourings or use other combinations.

  45. I turn my 2min noodles into a killer frittata. basically like a quiche but without the pastry. It’s an easy meal as I basically throw whatever ingredients I like….e.g. generally eggs (of course), noodles, frozen veg, bacon and grated cheese on top. cook it in a pan on one side then sprinkle with cheese and finish off in the oven.

  46. Something simple and fun for the kids. 2 minute noodle Jaffle’s or Toastie Toastie’s some might call them. add butter chicken or preferred sauce and let it simmer
while cooking your 2 minute noodles. then add the noodles to the mixture and their you have it. vegetable noodle curry 🙂

  52. Peanut butter , soy sauce and sweet chilli sauce. While you are boiling noodles mix about a heaped table spoon of peanut butter with about 2 table spoons of soy sauce and sweet chilli sauce. Whisk all of these together in a bowl to create a paste. Spread the paste out around the bowl once it’s mixed so that the bowl is lined with the paste. Add in cooked noodles with a tiny bit of moisture left on them to allow the paste to become runny but not liquid. Be sure not to allow too much water into the bowl.

  53. I like to boil my maggi noodles, and then cut them up, add one egg, diced spam/bacon, maggi seasoning, some peas and corn, shredded cheese and pan fry them into little pancakes. Very yum with some kewpie mayo and sriracha ??

Put the chicken back in the pan and add a Tablespoon of fish sauce and 4 Tablespoons of Oyster sauce.

My entire family love this and its easy if you have extra last minute dinner guests as you can make it go further by adding more noodles.

  66. I can so relate to this post as my kids absolutely LOVE noodles. My favourite recipe (and I’ll admit that we eat this fairly regularly) is chicken and noodle pie. It is a great recipe to use up any leftover chicken. So you basically cook some chicken and any veggies that you like then add flour, chicken stock (you can use the flavor packets from the noodles) and milk or cream to create a pie filling. Then mix through your cooked noodles and flavoring, put it in a baking dish and top with puff pastry. Then brush the top with some egg wash and bake for about 40mins or until golden brown on top. Yum!!

  67. Super Noodle Omelette: whisk eggs, grated vegetables, and a dash of milk. Cook in a frypan, and when almost cooked, sprinkle with a little grated cheese and add cooked 2 minute noodles. Turn and cook the other side of the omelette. Perfect for kids asking for just noodles!

We always make it into a noodle soup affair. i love it with shredded chicken, bok choy, finely sliced mushrooms, sliced carrot, and an egg poached in the middle of it. Then it’s served in a bowl which has a layer of torn iceberg lettuce on the bottom which cooks lovely when you pour that soup in.

  82. Singapore Noodles!

We weren’t really ‘allowed’ 2 minutes noodles growing up for some reason so I love buying them now for our kids as a silent protest to my parents! Haha! The most interesting way we do them is in Singapore Noodles instead of rice noodles.

    Ingredients:
    250g green prawns, peeled
2 eggs beaten up with some salt.
3-4 packet MAGGI chicken flavoured noodles
    2 cloves of garlic
    2 green shallots
1 cup of julienned veggies: carrots/onions/snowpeas/capsicum/whatever your kids will eat
    1 tbs curry powder
    2 tsps sesame oil
    1 tsp soy sauce
    1 tsp mirin/shaoxing wine
    white pepper/black pepper to taste
    1/4 tsp sugar or honey
peanut oil/oil with high smoking point

    Method:
Pat the prawns dry and toss in the curry powder and a drizzle of oil. Mix and chuck in the fridge. Pour boiling water over the noodles, add flavour packets and set aside. Mix the garlic with the sesame oil, pepper, sugar, mirin and soy sauce. Heat oil in a wok or large skillet until it smokes- add the eggs, swirl them around and let them set. Flip out the omelette, add more oil to the wok. Now chuck in the prawns for thirty seconds while you push them around, then the veg, then the sauce and noodles. Keep tossing the contents around in the wok constantly for a few minutes until everything is coated, the prawns are pink and everything smells delicious. Top with strips of the omelette and diced shallots. Serve with a litre of your favourite white wine!
