A day in my life

Brought to you by St.George Bank.IMG_3803

I’m not sure if your memory goes as far back as the first time you opened your bank account, but I can remember the day pretty clearly. I can’t remember what I ate for lunch yesterday, but opening that bank account I can. I was 14 and 9 months, just scored my first real job {ahem, not cash in hand} and I needed an account to get paid into. It was kinda a big deal. And the first time that I actually had to decide on a signature. SUCH A BIG DECISION. Should I curve the C? Add a squiggle? You know I’d been practicing it for years, JUST for that moment.

That bank, all those years ago was St.George {and I think I got a green dragon money bank as a reward} and it’s still my bank today. Times have changed, and St.George has just released a new-fangled mobile App that makes banking easier. It’s got fingerprint activation, and super easy functionality so you can pay bills and transfer cashola on the go. You can grab the App for whatever device you have by visiting here. They asked me to share a day in my life, and so here it is; 24 hours of my life.

OK. I’m sprung. I didn’t pick just any old day of my life, I picked one where I actually did something fun, which was heading to Sydney for an event, a business meeting and to hang out with my sister. After the screening point at the airport I got picked for the explosives test. Does anyone else ALWAYS get picked?

With time to spare before the party that I flew down for, I stop into Haighs and grab some treats for the family. It’s not a trip to Sydney unless I bring back goodies for everyone. I also swing by Myer and grab a dress that I fall so quickly in love with that I have to wear it to the party.

Party time. Tiny burgers for the win.

My Big Sis picks me up and we swing by a launch party on the harbour. Fancy people make speeches. I drink one glass of wine and feel tipsy.

Sydney, you so pretty.

We pop across to The Star to grab dumplings for dinner, and get side-tracked by Dirty Dancing. Who doesn’t love that movie? C’mon. We see if there are tickets left, and there are… THREE ROWS FROM THE STAGE. And we’re. Fifteen minutes to the show starting we order dumplings, eat them, order Zumbo treats AND make it to our seats. There should be a medal for that kind of effort.

After the show we head home, chat for an hour and then I crash… and have the most delicious sleep of my life. I hate leaving my kids behind, but I don’t hate that blissful sleep.

We head out to breakfast early, and do finances. Who paid for the Dirty Dancing tickets? Dumplings? Zumbo? And turns out I owe my sister money. Dang. Transfer the cashola while waiting for THIS…

Ricotta Hotcakes. The best breakfast EVER.

I also visit the cheesecakes at Papa’s Patisserie. So pretty.

I did a quick drive-by of Bondi, and told her I missed her.

And I told Sydney that I did not one bit miss it’s traffic. It took my two hours in a taxi to get to my meeting. Yeah, that’s not my idea of fun and I’m guess not yours either.

One long meeting down, and another lengthy taxi ride later I arrive at the airport, where I sweet talk my way out of a middle seat {ugh, ain’t nobody got time for that} into an aisle seat. I then spend the hour long wait writing to-do lists, paying bills {with the St.George App, of course} and people watching. I then board the packed plane and watch Gone Girl til we land and drive home and back to normality.

That’s what 24 hours of my life looks like. Well, not my normal life. Normal life includes less fancy moments, and more PJ-wearing. But that was fun. And the St.George App? Converted. It makes doing that banking, life stuff easy to do in those small moments of time we have.

And one thing I know mamas {well anyone/everyone/people} are going to love about the App. You know that thing when you lose your card for a moment. Either you left it in a store, or your child has taken it and hidden it somewhere in the house? Yeah, you know what I’m talking about. You can pop onto the App, block the card, and then when/if you find it {hint: Lacey and Lulu like to hide mine in their toy cash register} you can just go onto the app and reinstate it.

Banking has never been so easy.

  1. The Explosive test at the airport?
    EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
I dont even have to be flying, even if I’m just seeing someone off (domestically of course) I will be picked for tne test.

  2. I get asked to step aside for the explosives test all the time too! Must be something about looking all sweet and innocent…! Sounds like a fabulous 24 hours to me and that app is super cool. Good going, St George! x

  3. Ugh. I get picked for the explosives testing EVERY.SINGLE.TIME too!!! And I’m always the lady beeping as I go through security – it’s usually a piece of cheap chunky jewellery, a belt buckle or one time after stripping down to almost nothing, they decided it was my bra wire causing the alarm. wtf?!
    Sounds like a blissful child & hubby-free 24 hours!
    Cx

  4. This was a wonderful read Chantelle! Almost felt like I’ve been there. I’ve always wanted to try those sumptuous looking cheesecakes at Papa’s! Thanks for sharing the app-I’m definitely investigating on this one!
