Thank you

Thank uoi

I’ve been meaning to do this for days now, and am finally stealing a moment to write it.

What a wild ride these past handful of days have been. Late last month I launched my App, Little Moments by Fat Mum Slim. Looking back I didn’t have any expectations on how well it would be received. I was nervous about people liking it, that I remember. I wanted people to fall in love with it, like I did. But the way it was received around the world has just blown my mind. It went to number 1 in Australia within 3 hours and number 9 in the States {and very well in other countries around the world}.

The afternoon that it launched, Hubby popped down and bought a bottle of champagne for us to share. I’d like to say that it was a beautiful evening in our household, but Lacey and Luella had tantrum after tantrum. Really, I think they just wanted my attention, so mid-launch I just had to stop and be with them until bedtime. We ended up popping the champagne, I managed half a glass and Hubby drank the rest. That’s how we do it.

Last week Apple picked Little Moments as one of it’s Best New Apps in the whole world. Crazy.

The App has had the best start it possibly could, which I’m so happy about. I’ve had lots of people online and offline ask if we’re now rich, and you know I’ve always been honest. We’re not. Not even close. Soon we should be able to pay back what it cost to make the App, which is exciting.

Thank you for being so excited about Little Moments. Thank you to those who supported me along the way. Thanks to those who tested it, shared feedback, and helped make it better. Thanks to those who loved it, created cool stuff and shared it with their friends. And thanks to those who were patient while we ironed out a few kinks during the early days {we’re still ironing out kinks, so thanks for your continued patience}. Thanks to those who don’t own an iPhone or iPad who’ve had to patiently watch on while we played with the App {I know how frustrating that must be. I’m sorry!}.

The biggest thanks has to go to my App partner. I realised I’ve told this story over and over and over again in person, but not here. Stuart is my partner in making Little Moments. He contacted me a few times about making an App for photo a day, and once I won Most Clickable Woman and had a little bit of money to invest we spoke about partnering {a 50/50 relationship} in the App to make it happen. And we did. Stuart has been amazing to work with. I told him that I wanted something beautiful, easy to use {so that even a school kid or not-tech-savvy grandma could use} and I think he did just that. He has the attention to detail that I just don’t have. I’m sure if I put together an App it would look less like Little Moments and more like a 6 year-old’s craft project. Eek.

A big thanks has to also go to all the clever clogs who made filters and artworks to put inside the App. It was so fun working with such clever people. We’ll be cooking up more of that down the track.

I couldn’t have predicted the roller coaster ride of emotions that I’d experience. They do say what goes up must come down, and after such a high on that Friday, I experienced a whole host of weird emotions in the days afterwards. There were loads of phone calls, interviews, emails, and so many comments {and some complaints} to deal with. It was very noisy. Throw in two sick kids, and school holidays and you’ve got a case of I-think-my-head-is-going-to-explode! Thankfully normality has returned, and two sick kids are slowly returning to good health.

So, thank you. It’s been completely surreal and exciting, and slightly exhausting. Thank you for helping make my dream come true, for supporting me and cheering me on.

Thank you. xx

  1. Congratulations Chantelle that is fab news about Little Moments rise. It is a great little app and I am loving using it. I really love that I get a prompt each day.

  2. When I first told my nephew that I was putting it on his iPhone so I could try it, he made a face and told me no. Then I did it anyway and decided to show him how it works. Now he’s excited to play photo-a-day with me! Congrats, I can only imagine the work that it took to get here (and how much more to make us Android folks happy – but I do promise to buy it again as soon as it’s available on my phone!).
