was driving along with two teens in the car, as you do, and I wanted to fill the empty, almost awkward space with something, anything. A song was playing on the radio, and I was unsure of the artist “Isn’t that someone’s wife singing that song?”
The teen in the front seat promptly replied, “I’ll tell you.”
I looked over at her with a puzzled expression all over my face, “But.. how?”
“Shazam!”
I waited for the fireworks and magic that ‘shazam’ usually implies. But nothing.
She whipped out her iPhone, placed it next to the speakers and moments later told me the artist of the song.
And then the almost awkward silence continued.
Just when 30 wasn’t seeming so old, I’m thrown a curve ball. What the heck just happened?

iPhones have music recognition software that you record part of the song into and it tells you what it is. Pretty nifty!!
Oh my goodness, i had such a similar experience a few hours ago. i was having coffee with a friend and i wondered out loud what the song playing in the cafe was. He whips out his phone, presses a few buttons and before i know it i am looking at the CD cover. He told me to down load the ap. WTF??

I'm not that great with technology either but Shazam has got to be one of the best applications for iphones going around – it makes my head spin that you can find out the song, artist, latest records, star sign, what conditioner they put in their hair (well perhaps I'm being a little dramatic) just by sticking your phone near the wireless!!!!

oh im crazy about shazam… i hear a song i love playing in a movie and whip out the phone and then a matter of seconds latter… you know what the song is and you can go buy it from itunes! boy do i feel old too!!!
