HOW TO PLAY PHOTO A DAY

+To play on Instagram

, simply check out the list for the daily prompt, and then snap a photo using that as inspiration. Share the photo to your feed and include the hashtag #FMSPAD in your caption. We also have daily hashtags to find photos better {see below}.

Over on our @fms.photoaday Instagram account, we love showing off photos from our community. You can look at the #FMSPAD hashtag to see all the great photos from our community.

+ To play on Facebook, you can share to your personal feed, or jump over and join our private Photo A Day Facebook group and share there.

We have a beautiful bunch of moderators in our Facebook group who select the photos from each day to highlight and give a little extra love in the community. It’s a fun, friendly place to get involved.

In VERY exciting news, the kind team at Fujifilm Instax have given us two Instax Mini 11 cameras to giveaway, as well as film packs. We’ll have two packs to giveaway, one in our beautiful Facebook group, and another on Instagram {be sure to tag your photos with #FMSPAD}. To be in the running, all you have to do is play along with Photo A Day in July. Each photo you share {one per day} is an entry towards winning. The more you play, the more chance you have at winning. The winner will be selected at random.

To help you out, here’s a little more about the prompts and some ideas:

1. REFLECTION
An easy one to kick of the month, this can be a reflection of you… or a reflection of something on a shiny surface. A car. A building. A window.

2. LETTERS
This could be letters in the mail. Letters on a sign. Letters scribbled by your child. Letters engraved on something special.

3. HUMAN
Take a photo of a human. Perhaps your favourite human? A baby. An elder in the family. Or yourself.

4. I’M WORKING ON THIS…
What are you working on at the moment? Do you have a project. Cleaning out the pantry. Your mental health. Your fitness. Share in a photo.

5. WALL
Take a photo of a wall, from where ever you go today.

6. BRIGHT COLOURS
Take a photo of something with bright colours. Perhaps you could wear bright colours and snap a photo!

7. A FAVE PLACE
Where is your favourite place to go? A cafe, the beach, a corner in your home. A friend’s house. Show us where you love to go.

8. OUT OF FOCUS
Take a blurry photo. If you’re shooting from your phone, move the camera really fast as you take the photo. If you’re shooting with a camera, try taking the lens off and shooting without it. You might end up with a complete blur, and maybe that’s the magic of it!

9. A BOOMERANG
The First Nation people of Australia used boomerangs to hunt many moons ago, and yes you can take a photo of a real boomerang. OR you can use the free Instagram boomerang app and take a moving photo with your phone. This works well for people dancing. Animals moving. Birds flying. People clinking glasses. Small simple movements work well. Try it out!

10. BEHIND SOMEONE
Stand behind someone and take a photo. This could be following your child around. Or holding the hand of a friend or lover as they walk in front of you.

11. INTERIOR
Interior is the inside of a building/item/fruit etc, so take a photo of inside your home or a building you enter today, inside something.

12. EXTERIOR
And exterior is the outside of something, like a building. Show us the outside of something.

13. LIFE
What’s alive? Take a photo of it. You might like to nab a pregnant friend and show life by photographing them. A new baby would be beautiful too. Or perhaps an elderly person with wrinkles and life in their face.

14. CREATE A POSTCARD
Imagine your local council called you and asked you to take a photo of your area to put on a postcard that will be sold in shops. Where would you take it?

15. WHERE I STOOD
Show us where you went today. Show us where you stood. Tell us why you’re there. We want to know the story.

16. PATTERN
Flowers on a dress, stripes on a banana, lines of a powerline, squares in tiles. Show us a pattern you discover today.

17. WATER
Drink. Ocean. River. Shower. Pool. Take a photo of water.

18. STREET PHOTOGRAPHY
You can take this literally and take a photo of a street. Or you can get creative and take a photo with an edgy, street photography style. What is street photography? It simply means a candid photo of people out and about. So step back. Take a photo of people walking by a shop front, or graffiti on a street wall.

19. A CYLINDER
Have a look around for the shape of a cylinder and photography. An empty toilet roll comes to mind, but can you find something more exciting than that?

20. A HUG
Capture two people embracing. Have fun with it.

21. A CHURCH
Religious or not, there are churches all around us. Take a photo of a church around you.

22. CURRENT INTEREST
What are you interested in at the moment? Share a photo of what’s got your attention.

23. STILL LIFE
Still life is simply inanimate objects, so things that are not alive. So you could create a little set up of flowers in a vase, fruit in a bowl, or whatever you life and capture it.

24. A METAPHOR
Ready for a challenge? Recreate a metaphor. Need an example? A glass half full. Life is a highway. The early bird gets the worm. Google metaphors and take your pick!

25. BEAUTY
What’s beauty to you? Is it lipstick and blush? Or is it the sunrise in the morning? The glee on a child’s face. Show us beauty in a photo.

26. PORTRAIT MODE
Switch your phone to portrait mode and take a beautiful close up photo {if you’re using a camera, try and use a low depth of field lens like a 50mm that will create beautiful blur}.

27. COUNTRYSIDE
Take a drive and show us what the countryside looks like where you are!

28. AN OLD CAR
Look for vintage cars and take a photo of one. Is it possible where you live?

29. BLACK AND WHITE
Shoot in black and white mode and get creative.

30. HAPPY DAYS
Show us what a happy day looks like to you! Is it friends gathering? Reading a book alone? Sitting with your pet?

31. SUNDAY MORNING
Let’s finish the month with a snapshot of your morning. How are you spending this sunday?
