  1. I’m LOL’ing! Sounds like an awesome night! The closest I’ve gotten to meeting a celeb was local TV news anchor, which is hardly Ricky Martin!

But I am interested in the personality test! I’m one who wears my emotions on my sleeve (I think). I’ll have to google DISC.

  2. How interesting are those personality tests?! I did one a couple of years back and it’s spooky how spot on they are. I’m extremely jealous of your night with The Voice. I saw Ricky Martin perform in Evita on Broadway last year and my friend and I are convinced that when he was on our side of the stage, he was staring directly into our eyes (we were almost in the front row, so he had to have been, right?)! haha

  3. I met Nicole Kidmann on the set of Moulin Rouge. She was so warm and funny, Tamika was with me and and she told Nicole she had pretty red hair. So Nicole nelt down in front of her and had a little chat. I had my camera in my hand, but all I could do was mumble a hi.
Later that day we had lunch with the cast and crew where I spoke to Baz without knowing it was him. But I will save that embarrassing story.

  4. I am a massive goof ball around celebrities. Seriously. Hubby laughs at me all the time. We were in a shopping centre once and I saw Jana Pittman (super fast athletics lady) and I *may* have squealed “OH MY GOD IT’S GIAAN ROONEY!”. Hubby laughed while I quickly corrected myself.

  5. I never, ever recognise them. I’m hopeless. I once spent 45 minutes in deep conversation with Bono at a party and DID NOT KNOW IT WAS BONO. We all laugh and laugh to this day. x

  6. A friend of mine chased James O’Loughlin down the street after I’d recognised him and been too chicken to say hi. She dragged him back for a photo. I was then too embarrassed to actually say or ask him anything! Oops.

Otherwise, the only ‘celebs’ I’ve met (depends on your definition) have been at show tapings or at the supermarket. One particular celeb-ish person shops at my local so I see him all the time.

  7. My three year old son and I met Adriano Zumbo at a book signing… He’s a great guy and even let my three year old sit on his knee for a photo 😀 I still smile big everytime I walk into my son’s room and see the photo of the two of them…

  8. I lined up for two hours in a bookstore in London to get a cookbook signed for my little brother by Jamie Oliver. I got so star struck (I know I turned the brightest shade of red!) and tongue tied all I could manage to say was my brothers name for the inscription.

  9. I just did that DISC test online and I was also “S”, but I seriously came up nearly 25% of each one!! 29%, 28%, 22% and 21%! Haha!

I would definitely be the same as you in the Ricky Martin situation (though not exactly FOR Ricky Martin), actually it is something that annoys my husband a lot – that I am not really over the top acting all lovely dovey toward him. Which frustrates me, because of COURSE I love him, I’m just not being all outwardly obvious. Good to know I guess!

  10. Despite exploding with excitement inside, I generally don’t gush over celebrities either. I used to work in hospitality (a million years ago) and I met many, many celebrities – actors, musicians, sports people, politicians, royalty, etc. I always think of how uncomfortable I would be if someone started getting all excited over ME, ugh! It sounds like you had an awesome night, Chantelle! 🙂

  11. Oh I’m a similar personality type Telle. I’ve spent my life being told that I look like I’m having a miserable time when I’m actually have a great time!
I met Goran Ivanisevic once (the tennis player) I was about 17 at the time and I was told that I looked like I completely liquified into a puddle on the ground.

  12. I worked at a 5-star hotel in London several years ago, and met plenty of various celebs, both international ones, royalty and national UK celebs. It was quite funny with the lesser known local celebs, as we were a myriad of nationalities in the hotel and many of the recently-arrived foreign kids didn’t have a clue who they were. More than once I had to step in and take over (I’m Swedish myself but was a little more aware than most of my young colleagues).

Once Richard and Judy from British ‘This Morning’ arrived to check in, quite early in the midst of the check-out mayhem. They were quietly queueing with everyone else, when I came on the desk at the beginning of my shift and immediately took them upstairs to their suite. No one on the desk had recognised them! I explained the situation and they had a good laugh. 🙂 They were very kind and pleasant.

I met more than one international star, however, who was not so kind nor pleasant, but will name no names… I always managed to keep my cool, even if I was quitely peeing myself with excitement! Chantelle – you would do really well working in the hospitality industry as well, your personality is spot on for handling anyone and everyone that comes along! 🙂

Love personality tests and have done quite a few different ones. They’re always almost scarily spot-on and by now I’m beginning to know myself quite well!

  13. I am totally super excited about gifts & surprises but no one ever knows it because for some reason my face becomes a stone wall. I sometimes wish I were that way when it came to meeting celebrities. I met Gavin Degraw once and couldn’t manage to form a coherent word let alone string together a sentence. My nephew/brother, on the other hand, was composed & chatted like they were long lost buddies.

I’m pretty sure if I met Seal &/or Rick Martin I’d be a babbling idiot. Just because they are so… iconic(?)!

  14. I have stumbled across a few celebs but this one particular person stands out the most for me. I spent my whole time at a kids birthday party speaking to an Olympic Gold medalist I did know who she was, but pretended not too, as we were having such an awesome down to earth conversation that I didn’t want to spoil the moment by saying, “Hey YOU are …!”. When we left my hubby turned to me and asked “You did know who that was right?”. Of course I did, wasn’t she just lovely! {See I still don’t say who}. But what an honor to be standing next to somebody who represented our little country (NZ) and succeeded in her field! A very genuine down to earth person to, who spent time with me (3 hours) talking about … LIFE!. For a moment I felt motivated to get on my bike and start riding again (For a moment!) PS That was a hint at the end. hahaha

  15. I once worked in a travel agency and Sacha Baron Cohen (aka Ali G) walked in with Isla fisher. He had lost his airline ticket and needed help to replace it. We kept finding excuses to wander out to the front to look at him lol!

  16. I met William Beckett from the Acadamey is,Travis from we the kings and Against Me! at Warped tour ’08. I met the singer of nice guys finish first.

  17. Jealous. I met Janet Jackson, pregnant. She was smaller then a salt shaker…and even though I’m 45kg after 4 babes now when I met her I wasn’t that tiny. SIgh. But it was still at thrill 😉 x

  18. How did I miss this post?! I was totally obsessed with Ricky as a teen! I’m a bit like you, if I’m ever in the presence of a ‘celeb’ I’d insist on playing it cool, and not act like a desperate loser fan…unless it was Ricky Martin, in which case I’d just walk up and tell him I loved him, and then continue to gaze adoringly at him for the rest of the night (like a desperate loser fan). When I was in NYC for work a few years ago, I met his driver/bodyguard (he was our driver at the time). Every day for almost 2 weeks I’d ask him about Ricky…and he only had good things to say!! (Of course I knew that’d be the case). A few years later the same driver drove me to my wedding…so, in some ways, Ricky was at my wedding! (you know, by association!) I’m so impressed Chantelle. If you tell me you’ve also met the spice girls I might just die!!!!
