First timer

I’ve been deep water running.

I say it like I’ve been doing it for years, but I’ve done it twice, and I love it. Just don’t ask me to retrieve anything from the top shelf of the pantry for a week because my arms ache. But I love it.

My neighbour asked me to join her, and I reluctantly jumped at the chance. I know that doesn’t even make sense. But I’m a nervous-nelly when it comes to these types of things {what if I can’t do it? What if I drown?}. But I went, because it’s school holidays and I’ll pretty much do anything to get an hour of no parenting.

So I went. I put on my weight belt {or floaty belt, I don’t know what it’s called} and I ran my little legs out. It was harder than I thought, but it was also more fun than I could have imagined.

When’s the last time you did something for the first time? Tried something new lately? Tell me about it.

  1. Go you! I am desperate to try a spin class but I’m too scared to go on my own. This year I am going to suck it up and make 2015 – The Year of Spin!

  2. Go FMS!! I actually did Yoga on the Beach a few times while we were away over the holidays – I normally just do it in the mornings at home before kids wake (if I’m lucky). Was amazing and keen to get to a class a few more times a year rather than just doing at home. Was so much easier as hubby was on holidays and took kids to skate park which doesn’t happen every week

  3. I’ve been doing yoga! Like, almost every day. Don’t even recognise myself haha. This has me intrigued, I wonder if I can do it near me!

  4. That does sound like hard work…but also a lot of fun! I’ve just started doing HIIT workouts, which makes me sound like quite the gym bunny, except I do them at home in my backyard. It’s basically a circuit where you do 1 minute of an intense exercise (usually something that involves weights) and then 30 seconds of rest followed by 1 minute of sprints, 30 seconds rest, then onto another exercise. I do this with 4 or 5 different exercises and it takes less than 30 minutes all up, but by the end I am totally spent. And for the first time ever, I finally feel like I’ve found an exercise I enjoy and actually want to do!

  5. So today I decided to get in the pool with my son and so some kind of Emily type aqua stuff, including running from side to side and treading water. If I do it every day for 30 minutes, surely gotta to help, and plus kids love me splashing around with them! x
