February 2020 | Photo A Day Challenge

Well, hello. Look at us here, flying through 2020 like it’s nobodies business. Next thing you know we’ll have the Christmas tree up.

Kidding. Let’s not get carried away.

February is the real start to a new year for me. January kinda just feels like practice, or me simply treading water with the school holidays… but now school is officially back, I can catch my breathe again and it’s time to make time for me… i.e. play photo a day.

Will you be joining us this month?

HOW TO PLAY

+ Playing along could not be easier! I promise. Just look at the list each day and take a photo using the prompt as inspiration. So, for example, Day 1 is IMPERFECT, so all you have to do is take a photo of something that isn’t quite perfect.
+ You can then share your photo on either Facebook or Instagram or both! To share on Instagram, just upload with the hashtag #FMSPAD and you’re done {more details below if you need them though!} and to share on Facebook, upload to your personal page or jump into our Facebook group and share there.

HOW TO PLAY ON INSTAGRAM

+ Simply upload the photo to Instagram, add a caption {you could mention the day and the prompt in the caption}, add the hashtag #FMSPAD and then publish.
+ Check out the #FMSPAD hashtag to see all the other photos. Like them. Comment on them. Be part of the community.
+ Each day a Fab Four is picked from the photos shared on Instagram for the challenge. It’s four photos that have captured our attention from each prompt. Check the feed here to see the photos.
+ To make it easier to find all the daily photos, you can find and use the daily hashtags below. Simply add them to your caption when uploading to Instagram.

HOW TO SHARE ON FACEBOOK

+ Upload the photo in our Facebook Photo A Day group {you’ll be added within 12 hours of requesting}, add a caption {you could mention the day and the prompt in the caption} and then publish. You’re also welcome to share on your personal page, if that’s how you like to roll.
+ Check out the photos shared in the group, or among your friends. Comment, like and be part of the photo-taking community.
+ Each day a Fab Four is picked from the photos shared in our Facebook group for the challenge by our lovely admin team. It’s four {or more} photos that have captured our attention from each prompt. The photos are made into a collage, shared and pinned to the top of the group.

HOW TO REMEMBER THE PROMPTS EASILY

+ For all devices and PC, we upload the prompts which you can download automatically into your phone or PC calendar. For Smartphones & Mac Calendar, click here. For HTML for web viewing, click here.
+ You can also print out the list, save it as your screensaver or save it to your camera roll.

If you need a little help with the prompts and some ideas on what to take photos of, here’s a little help:

1. Imperfect
Very little in life is perfect, so take a photo of something imperfect!

2. In my cup
What’s in your cup today? Tea? Coffee? Wine? Share!

3. Doorway
Take a photo of a beautiful doorway that you find today.

4. In my hand
What’s in your hand today? Is it your child’s hand? A cup of coffee? Get creative.

5. Tell a story
Tell a story though your photo. Or add a story to your caption.

6. Flower
Take a photo of a flower – perfect reason to shout yourself a bunch of flowers!

7. Begins with F
Take a photo of something that begins with the letter F. Fire, frost, friends, favourite… anything goes!

8. I have too many…
Shoes? Cats? What do you have too many of?

9. Silence
It’s easy to hear silence, but how do you show that in a photo? For me it’s a quite lake or water, and no one around.

10. Writing
Take a photo of some writing. Imagine if you can capture sky-writing today!

11. Skyline
Skyline is where the sky meets land. If you’re in the city, you’ll see sky and buildings, and in the country it might be sky and trees!

12. The small things
Take a photo of something small. Maybe you can get up high to make things look smaller.

13. On the ground

Take a photo of something on the ground. Get creative, look down and see what you can see.

14. I love this…
Happy Valentine’s Day! Take a photo of something you love.

15. Get in the photo
Get used to this prompt because I’m going to be asking you this every month. Get in the photo. Simple!

16. Wings
They might be on a bird, or they might be wings painted on a wall. Take a photo of some wings.

17. Leaf
It might be a leaf in a book, or a leaf from a tree. Take a photo from a leaf!

18. Show half
Show half of something. This is a really fun, creative prompt.

19. More than one
Take a photo of something that has more than one – kids, dogs, anything!

20. Growing
Take a photo of something that is growing. House plants work well!

21. Fri-yay!
Happy Friday! Yay! Take a photo of how you’re spending your Friday.

22. Home decor
Take a photo of inside your home, or some else’s!

23. Big and small
Take a photo of something big and small together.

24. Corner
Get out in your local town and look for corners. A creative way to do it is to look at the top of buildings where the corner of a building meets the sky. Snap away!

25. Heart-shaped
Take a photo of something heart shaped. What can you find?

26. White on white
Take a photo of something white on a white background.

27. Delicious
Yum! Take a photo of something delicious!

Take a photo of something that repeats itself, in a pattern?
