I
frantically wipe my brow as I flip the tofu on the BBQ. My guests are due any minute. I’m still to clean the toilet, give the bathroom the once over and chill the white wine.
Dinner couldn’t be any more important. My three dream guests are headed my way, and I need to offer them up my best self {and some good food wouldn’t go astray}.
I imagine I’ll let them do all the talking. Oprah can tell me everything she’s learnt from everyone she’s ever interviewed, as well as any wisdom she’s learnt herself along the way. Ellen can amuse me with her quick wit and sense of humour. And well, Beyonce, she can just look pretty and sing every now and then.
I’m a fickle dinner host, aren’t I?
Tell her she’s dreaming…
This is {obviously} just a little fun for your Wednesday. I thought I’d ask you if you can have any 3 guests from around the world over for dinner, who would you have… and why?
Play along with me. Please. {otherwise I’m going to look like a weirdo who dreams up dinner parties and cooks tofu on the BBQ, k?}
Ha Ha – I was like really, Chantelle; I am so gullible. I'd have a BBQ and cook my lentil lamb salad, potato bake and lots of yummy meat. My three guests would be Obama (I find him intriguing), Daniel Johns from Silverchair (because I can), I actually would have Rachel Rae as my third guest, she is so fun and bubbly!
Hmmm good question. Firstly I'd put my hubby in charge of food (he's a fab cook) and have a great bottle of French bubbles ready to pour.
My guests would be Billy Connolly to have us all in fits of laughter, the Queen as she has seen and met so many diverse people she'd have a few tales to tell after some bubbly. Then I'd have Johnny Depp, cause why the hell not??
I'd have Hamish & Andy over because they're hilarious (and a bit of eye candy).
And Jamie Oliver because I can't cook!! And I think he's cute & funny too.
But then I'd have no girls to talk to…hmmm.
Interesting that you chose 3 girls and I chose 3 boys!! lol
Fun post. 🙂
I would invite Carl Barron, my hubby and I went to his show when we were first dating, and certain lines have stuck with us for the last 6 years (inside jokes), Mike Compton so he can play some amazing mandolin for us (plus he is hubby's idol) and then lastly I would invite Kendra Wilkinson because, well, because I am tragic and I love that girl!
Oprah, Donna Hay & Will Anderson for obvious reasons. We would drink Tequila, eat Lamb and follow it with something sweet & sticky for dessert. This was too fun.
I'm with Thea, I'd definitely invite Hamish. And Andy, but only if they counted as one person.
I'd also invite Bill Granger to provide the food.
And for female company, there are way too many choices, but I'd have to agree with DaniV and invite Kendra. She'd be hilarious.
If I could stretch the budget and invite a few more people, I'd invite:
– You (not even kidding, I would love to meet you and ask you lots of questions)
– Mia Freedman (ditto above)
– My boyfriend (to provide him with a decent dinner that doesn't involve a triple cheeseburger)
– My best girlfriends (just coz)
What a great question though. Thanks for providing me with an extra 5 mins procrastination time. xx
oh i love this…
sorry to be unoriginal but id have to choose oprah too cause i love her and she is so wise and bound to share something inspiring!
and then a photographer… its tricky to decide which one… i think ulla nyeman cause i love her commercial work with children and id love to hear her many stories and feel inspired! check out her portfolio here http://www.ellisonlee.com/site/Home.aspx
a musician cause music is my second love – after my family of course! too many to choose – help me… tori amos cause ive loved her music for as long as i can remember and been to every concert… fave song of all time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svCBs5lelhM. also crazy about the avett brothers (oh thats two people!)… im so intrigued by them and in love with their music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XybDZ9I9k4k&playnext_from=TL&videos=v7GI4jgGS38. then there is regina http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p62rfWxs6a8&feature=channel… mmm… i think i will have 6 people to my dinner so i can invite everyone – id hate for anyone to be left out!
oh i wish this was real… i would make all sorts of yummy things and only have a drink or two so i could absorb everything! thanks for a little bit of fun telle… got to edit photos now! rowe x
Tofu on my BBQ HELL NO.
Better invite the guy who owns Barbeques Galore and get him to bring over a BBQ.
AINT NO TOFU TOUCIN THIS GRILL…
Might go and write a song about that now.
Wow Ellen looks like Edie Falco there! I would definitely invite Oprah but also Gayle cos she's a real foodie too!
You're a better host than me – I would have us eat out or do the “each bring a dish” dinner lol
I actually have no idea who I would invite perhaps Kelly from Enjoying the Small Things – plus she is a photographer. I would invite the writer from Grey's Anatomy so I know in advance what is going to happen on my favourite show and then I would invite Katie Noonan
Okay, I'd go for Obama, Simon Baker (though I have no idea of his real personality, but he could just bring i=his sexy vibe to the party), and Kerri Sackville, because if I had a BBQ with Simon Baker and she weren't invited, I think she'd try to have me killed.
Oh, and I think tofu is totally do-able on the BBQ…though I prefer fish. 😉
hmmm, okay..so I think Hamish & Andy definately but I think they only count as one because they are like joined at the hip…Robert Pattinson, just because and Kate Winslet, because I reckon we could be best mates if we could only meet!
This is crazy. I saw your little teaser blurb on facebook via iPhone this morning while I was waiting for a bloodtest and I sat thinking who my 3 would be. Now I've come home and logged on and I see I've chosen the exact same 3 as you did. They are 3 amazing and inspirational women for sure xxxx
My hubby's green chicken curry and corona's on ice…
1. Bernard Fanning. He is a funny bugger as well as being an amazing singer
2. Russell Brand. He is hilarious.
3. Rove. miss him on tv.
At my ideal dinner party:
1. Oprah
2. Robert Pattinson (yes, I'm a Twihard)
3. Drew Barrymore
Great post!
Hmm…
1. Bernard Fanning
2. Guy Grossi
3. I really can't think of a third!
I think I'd cook up a simple home-made pasta with pesto and parmasen for starters, and slow cooked red wine lamb shanks for mains. Dessert would have to be chocolate sponge roll, or passionafruit souffle.
Man, I'm hungry now!!
hmmm. Organic Roast Chicken, with baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, pumkin & Salad
Gael Gracia Bernal (drool)
Tracy Anderson (She can give me a one on one personal training session)
Napoleon Perdis (He can bring freebies)
Cool line up. I'm a big fan of both Oprah & Beyonce.
I would invite Jennifer Aniston to have a good ol bitch session about that other marriage wrecking tart; Julia Gillard to try to absorb her intelligence through osmosis; and Matt Preston for a bit of fun (+ I'm sure he'd bring a great bottle of wine).
Hi Telle,
Great topic.
I am being very unoriginal and going with
1. Hamish Blake (not keen on Andy) as he is going to be my future husband if I could make it happen – he is sooo funny!
2. Manu Feildel, so I could listen to his accent and eat great food.
3. Has to be a muso of some sort. Maybe Tim McGraw as he is completely on my mind at the moment with his impending convert.
Ahh, a devine evening.
I have been asking myself this question for ages so I am so glad your asked!
Also Ellen Degeneres I am a huge fan, I think that she would be incredibly down to earth, funny of course and an absolute joy!
2nd I would have Angela Lansbury because I have a strange obsession of Murder she wrote, I guess my grandma has something to do with that one- I just love Mrs. Lansbury
And then Tina Fey- she also seems like she would be incredibly fun, and down to earth! Great/fun question!
Love your blog. xoxo
