  1. I don’t like the heat, just tolerate summer. We don’t get extreme heat though and the rest of the year is beautiful

  2. I was born in the north of W.A. in the red dirt and searing heat, my family moved to the most southern point 30 years ago when I was little to the beautiful coastal town of Albany and to this day I still struggle with the nearly freezing temps. My dream was a tile fire and I finally have one yay!!!!

  3. I’m literally feeling your pain. So much in fact that id happily donate to your ac fund. I live in Phoenix, AZ, where the temp at 6am in the summer is already above 110. We still have our ac on 70 degrees. I hate the heat. Hate. Then again I hate the cold. :-/

  4. So I’m in the UK. You all know what the UK weather is like, right? It’s too hot for me! No, really….. 65 degrees I can just cope with – any hotter than that and I’m like a vampire/bat/moon – indoors in the dark! 😀 I’d be giving up food to save for AC. Jude.x

  5. I like it hot…winter makes me want to sleep. Sydney summer and spring is lovely. The year before last I was up in Hervey Bay for a week during summer and while it was hotter than Sydney, I enjoyed it. Must admit the humidity in Qld is not my favourite while Sydney summers are more of the dry heat.

  6. We moved from Brisbane to Canberra to escape the heat. I just can’t cope with it. We have recently holidayed on the gold coast when it was mid-twenties. Bliss! Much hotter than that and we all start melting!!

  7. I really dislike the summer in Sydney – I live in Western Sydney near Penrith so it is usually 10 degrees hotter than the forecast for Sydney. I much prefer the winter – I find I can do more and feel better in the winter (maybe being born in Canada has some bearing on all this) hehe.

  8. Being a Victorian but growing up in Qld – Start saving those pennies !!!! Beg Borrow steal … our summer is hot and sticky … having a Canadian visiting our shores this week … While they get up to 45 degrees he said it was nothing our 28 degree day.. He was melting – our sun is so hot … I am cold girl… Early spring and late autumn are my fav. times of years.. No wonder I fell in love with Canada and Eastern USA

  9. I like it all. Winter is the time for woolies and comfort food. Spring is time to throw open doors and windows, and clean the house. Summer is lazy days, light breezy clothing and painted toenails. Autumn comes around with its falling leaves and cooler nights. The seasons are not as marked here on the Sunshine Coast, but they are there if you look. House orientation is important, north-facing and you will enjoy cooling breezes in summer.

  10. Hello Chantelle…I like Autumn best..the cool mornings and cold nights make me feel alive.
Spring is almost as good. It can be pretty grim in Sydney in the middle of Winter and Summer. Barb

  11. I’d have to choose the heat over the cold to be honest. I hate the cold pain in my fingers, and my toes going numb… But in a perfect world, it would be in between. Warm and sunny, with a nice cool breeze. Yep 🙂 Where we live though, the weather can’t decide whether it’s hot or cold. One day it’s hot as hell, the next I’m rummaging through my wardrobe for my uggies!!

  12. I love hot weather! I would much rather be living in queensland than melbourne, I tell you that. If only queensland didnt have crazy tropical rain/storms though. lol

  13. I’ve always loved summer, but I grew up in Michigan where it rarely broke 90F. my husband and I just move to Taiwan and it’s been a bit of an adjustment. back home in the States it’s supposed to be nice and cool fall weather right now, perfect for sweatshirts and jeans. but here it is still humid and in the 80s! it’s practically October and I still wear shorts and tank tops every day… though when we first arrived it was over 100F every day, so I suppose 80s aren’t so bad!

  14. well, I live in Singapore which fortunately or unfortunately near the Equator. so we do not have cold seasons but damn humid weather. the coldest we probably might have gotten was 22 degrees cel. nothing less than that. we have learnt to live in between where one day it will be really hot and some days raining throughout. guess this is what they say – best of both worlds?

  15. Just out of curiosity, what is “cold” for you Aussies during wintertime?
We have +30C at best during summer, and -30C at worst during winter.. The big change in between is quite hard to take sometimes. I like hot weather the most, but also the late autumn with just below zero degrees. Between hot and zero degrees, there’s a point where I feel just as frozen as when it’s below -5C.

    • I live in Tasmania – summer is usually 14 – 31 C & winter can be -2 – 13C. These temps are usually quite pleasant but in other areas in Australia the summer temp can reach 40+C which would be no fun at all

  16. Your in my neck of the woods lovely….I hate to break it to you, that man wasn’t foolin you when he said 6am. AC will be your bestie….heck it will be your LOVER!! . I live work and drive with AC….it’s the only way to go. When the days are really bad and even the beach is a no go….head to your favorite shopping centre. Unfortunately half a million others have tha same idea.

  17. I have to tell you, I was at the beach 5:35 for a run this morning because by 7:30 it’s just too hot. I am NOT a huge fan of the heat, but the weather we have the rest of the year ’round more than makes up for it. There’s been few times that we’ve used the a/c though. We live on the second floor so often get a breeze and we have ceiling fans. I’d love it to be spring all year round! I am a bit worried we’re in for a scorcher this year just because winter seemed to be quite mild.

  18. I live in Perth but am from Scotland so heat was a new concept to me when we first got here. If it was high 20s all year round I could live with that but this 40 degree nonsense that we get at xmas and january can gtf!

  19. We were victims of an unusual storm called a derecho this summer (West Virginia, U.S.). 80mph straight-line winds came through June 29, shearing off tree trunks and toppling power lines. We had no electricity for 9 days – nine of the hottest days of the summer.

We’ve also experienced loss of power in the dead of winter. But I’m like you, and would much rather be cold than hot. I *like* hot weather, but only if I can get out of it and into air conditioned comfort when I want. I can always add another layer of clothing when I’m cold, but there’s just so much you can do to get comfortable and remain decent when it’s hot!

  20. Winter girl here, all the way. We lived in cairns for 2 years and (other than my belief that geckos are dive bombing monsters trying to take over the world) I was so very glad to move back to the milder weather in Sydney. Good luck!

  21. Love autumn, spring & winter….loathe summer. Being a Queenslander, this made life uncomfortable for a large part of the year. While everyone was moaning about never ending rain (resulting in those awful floods), I was a happy little camper, rejoicing in the cooler temps. Having moved to northern rivers myself around the same time as you, I’m hoping my summers will be a little cooler. We bought sans AC as well!!!

  22. I can handle the heat, as in, it doesn’t bother me, but my ideal weather, Goldilocks weather, is spring time. Just love those warm days and slightly cooler nights. I detest being cold, though. Ugh!

  23. I love the heat!! I used to live in Arizona where it was over 100 for 6 months straight during the summer, so great!! [but you need air conditioning!!] I hate the cold…it’s starting to get colder here now [I live in New York City now] and I’m dreading it… hopefully we don’t have much snow this year!

  24. If you’re in reach of a decent breeze then I wouldn’t worry much about it… yet. Uh, did I tell you that I’m within walking distance of a Movenpick ice cream outlet? And I have a baby that you can cuddle? There, isn’t your day looking better already? 😀

  25. I’m with you Chantelle. I hate summer. I can’t bear the heat at all. We live on a farm. It is HOT. There are brown snakes. We are in a high fire risk area so we have to evacuate on catastrophic days. I have to have bushfire boxes packed at all times and ready to pile in the back of the car with two kids, two dogs and a cat. Give me autumn and winter any day!! At least we have air conditioning!! I made sure my husband had ducted reverse cycle installed before I moved in!! LOL I hope you get your air-conditioning soon. 🙂 xo

  26. Bluuuuuuurrrgghhhh my folks live on the mid north coast & my brother & his family live on the far north coast. I’m in Sydney. Whenever I visit, which I will do next week I spend all of my time asking WHY DON’T YOU PEOPLE USE YOUR AIRCON??
Then I figured it out. Pools.
A quick swim at some point during the day seems to cool you down to a temp you can live with. Having said that, I still want to die & I always lose weight up there. Can’t stand that bloody humidity. Just awful.

  27. Yikes! I can totally relate. I grew up in Washington State in the GLOOMIEST RAINYEST part of the state (think Twilight – seriously, I know the “real” forks…)…and I was always so sad and longed for sunshine! I’ve lived in Souther California for almost 10 years, and I chalk it up to global warming but it has just be RIDICULOUSLY hot these last couple years! I take 5 steps and I’m almost broken out in a sweat. I HAVE to sleep with A/C on all night in hopes of probably getting a good nights sleep. It’s insane.
I’m all for getting to experience a full 4 seasons… A little sunshine, sprinkles, crunchy leaves, snow… in and out… 🙂
    Wishing you a speedy a/c!
    Kristi

  28. I prefer all four seasons.but here in sunny California, you only get one.
It’s always hot,and when they promise rain you get a drizzle. So a move to Oregon,
    Is in my future.

  29. I was the one in Georgia, USA who had doors open in the middle of winter because it was 40 outside… and I was burning up with the heat on!!!! I lived in Northern IL (NOT Chicago) – where it can get below zero Fahrenheit… and I wear a spring jacket!!!! So, I can say, I am 1,000% with you on the hating hot weather (shoot – I don’t even like warm weather!!!

    • Julie, I am from Mississippi and I am the same way! I almost never wear a jacket! And I have worn shorts on Thanksgiving AND Christmas before!

  30. I simply cannot function in the heat. We’ve had a teriible hot summer here in Southern Calidornia and I’ve been incapasitated when the air conditioning wash’t running. On top of that, our house has two ac units. One for the upstairs and one for down. That’s twice the electricity for the dang bill. Ugh. Hang in there Chantelle! Just sit in the ocean all day! 😉

  31. I love all the seasons. I just really hate it too hot when you are trying to sleep. I love snuggling up in winter and longer days in summer. Autumn and Spring are my favourite seasons as they are nearly always perfect. Good luck with you air conditioner. I hop you have a lovely summer in your new home.

  32. I live in the Middle East where 6 months of the year temperatures range from 44 – 50 degrees with overnight lows barely reaching below 37. The other 6 months which locals call winter ranges from 25 – 35 degrees. We have just finished our first full year living here and as a Melbourne girl I never thought I would dream of Melbourne’s 4 seasons in one day but I do.

  33. I do not like hot weather, and that’s half the year for us, if not year-round in the Philippines. But I don’t think I can handle snow cold either. So, sunny but breezy/windy is how i like it.

  34. I hate the heat. Thankfully my parents chipped in and helped to cover the cost of an air conditioning unit for my house. It’s soo worth it.

  35. I like Fall and Spring! Here in Mississippi, USA, it sometimes gets over 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer. At best, we stay in the 90’s for months! UGH!

  36. I don’t do heat. I hate sweating and my body doesn’t seem to regulate my temperature very well making me just freak out and get cranky. Cruelly I have been pregnant twice – both times over summer. Enough said really

  37. I live in the tropics, so I’m used to the heat, sometimes it can get unbearably hot here. I vastly prefer the fall and winter months in my country, the temperature is just right. Being used the heat, doesn’t mean I like it, but I don’t like winter either, I mean, actual winter, with snow and sleet and icy roads; every time I have to travel to a place with an real winter (here a cardigan is considered winter clothing) I shudder, all the snow and walking around with 20 pounds of clothing on and still be cold, and the dry itchy skin that inevitably follows, nah I’m an autumn girl… But if I can’t have autumn, a little heat won’t kill me 😛

  38. I’m a cold frog…i feel the cold easily, although when we get our 48C days here in the Riverland, ummm yeah i’d love to be that cold frog just once more. And it is such a dry heat it almost scorches your windpipe if you head out in it for any length of time, mores the pity because our fruit needs to be harvested from early nov through to late jan (and a little bit beyond when its slightly cooler:)

  39. I love the heat. Mostly because my car, office and house is air-conditioned. Ha. Sorry lovely, but being what, another 6 hours north qualifies me to rub your nose in that fact a little.

Plus! I’ve lived further north west to where I am now and nothing beats my town for heat with a big fat side order of humidity. Except the ones at the VERY top but they are called tropical so it’s sort of their thing so that doesn’t count anyway. Ha.
Rambling. Sorry. The heat got to me. 😉

  40. I like the cold as you can always add layers of clothes, with the heat there is only so much that can come off before you cant take any more away (without getting into a sticky situation) We have lived in QLD for many summers – and yep aircon is a must!
