Photo A Day Challenge // February 2016

Hello!

How are you?

Good. I hope. Well I was positively thrilled with how excited everyone was about January, so I am hoping that the excitement continues and that people are hooked on photo-taking! Tell me you are!

Here’s the list for February! It’s a fun one! ?

PHOTO A DAY - FEB 16

HOW TO PLAY

+ Playing along is really simple! Just look at the list each day and take a photo using the prompt as inspiration. So, for example, Day 1 is Drink. So all you have to do is take a photo of a drink. You can be as creative as you like.
+ You can then share your photo on either Facebook or Instagram or both! To share on Instagram, just upload with the hashtag #FMSphotoaday and you’re done {more details below if you need them though!} and to share on Facebook, upload to your personal page or jump into our Facebook group and share there.

HOW TO PLAY ON INSTAGRAM

+ Simply upload the photo to Instagram, add a caption {you could mention the day and the prompt in the caption}, add the hashtag #FMSphotoaday and then publish.
+ Check out the #fmsphotoaday hashtag to see all the other photos. Like them. Comment on them. Be part of the community.
+ Each day a Fab Four is picked from the photos shared on Instagram for the challenge. It’s four photos that have captured our attention from each prompt. Check the feed {@littlemomentsapp} to see the photos.
+ Due to some spam issues on Instagram, we’re introducing the daily hashtag as well. We’re doing this because spammers are jumping on popular hashtags and sharing photos not relevant to our challenge. I’d encourage you to use both the #FMSphotoaday hashtag and the daily hashtag from the list below. If this is too complicated for you {I get it!} just use the #FMSphotoaday hashtag and be on your way. Alternatively, my App {The Little Moments App for iPhone/iPad} generates the daily hashtag for you automatically so it takes all the thinking out of it for you!

FEB-2016

HOW TO SHARE ON FACEBOOK

+ Upload the photo to Facebook – you can either share on your personal page, on your business page {if you have one} or in our Facebook Photo A Day group {you’ll be added within 12 hours of requesting}, add a caption {you could mention the day and the prompt in the caption} and then publish.
+ Check out the photos shared in the group, or among your friends. Comment, like and be part of the photo-taking community.
+ Each day a Fab Four is picked from the photos shared in our Facebook group for the challenge by our lovely admin team. It’s four {or more} photos that have captured our attention from each prompt. The photos are made into a collage, shared and pinned to the top of the group.

HOW TO REMEMBER THE PROMPTS EASILY

+ For all devices and PC, we upload the prompts which you can download automatically into your phone or PC calendar. For Smartphones & Mac Calendar, click here. For HTML for web viewing, click here.
+ You can also print out the list, save it as your screensaver or save it to your camera roll.
+ If you’re a lucky iPhone or iPad owner, you can use the Little Moments App to remind you of what the prompts are, as well as make your photos a bit fancy. You can grab the App here.

If you want more help with the prompts, and ideas of what to take photos below, read on:

1. DRINK
Take a photo of something you drink today. It’s that simple!

2. SO COLOURFUL
Look for the brightest, more colourful item you can see today, and snap a photo of it!

3. CAR
Take a photo of a car, toy or real.

4. TEXTURE
Think of a texture that’s a little rough or raised, like wool or a rock or a bumpy brick wall. Or perhaps it’s a shiny, smooth surface. Show texture in a photo.

5. COFFEE
Now, I know we have some coffee lovers among us. I’m not on of them, so I’m going to have to get creative. Take a photo of coffee.

6. JUST NOW
What’s happening just now in your life? A bird flew by ‘just now’? Or I ate a dougnut ‘just now’. Share a photo of what’s happening right now in your life.

7. I ATE HERE
At home, in a cafe, at a park. Share where you ate something!

8. FAMILY
Take a photo of family; yours, someone else or a family of animals, maybe. Show family.

9. A CORNER
Look up, can you see how the corner of a building meets, and it looks awesome with the sky as a background? Can you snap a corner today? It could even be a corner of the street or book.

10. PINK
Keep an eye out for something pink today. Take a photo of it!

11. A WALL
It could be a wall at home or work or as you go about your day. Share a wall! I’ll be trying to find one with an artwork or graffiti on it.

12. PAPER
The newspaper, a note, a paper airplane flying through the sky. Take a photo of paper.

13. A PET
Do you have a pet, share a photo of them. If you don’t have a pet, head out to the park or snap a photo of an animal you see on your stroll.

14. MY HAPPY PLACE
Show us where you go when you want to feel happy.

15. YELLOW & BLUE
These two colours look awesome together. Show yellow and blue in a photo.

16. EMPTY
Yes, not full but empty. It could be an empty bus, an empty glass, an empty street, an empty beach. Show empty!

17. A DOOR
As you go about your day today, notice doors. Yours, others, and choose the best you can find to share.

18. IN THE BACKGROUND
Take a photo and put something in the background. So perhaps you’re taking photos of people and there’s a beautiful tree in the background. Or you could be taking a photo of a bike, with your child playing in the background.

19. BREAKFAST
Show us your breakfast. I hope it’s delicious!

20. KEEPING FIT
Take a photo of whatever you do to keep fit. If you’re not fit, maybe try it or take a photo of someone else keeping fit!

21. HOBBY
Do you have a hobby? Maybe it’s photography! Share a photo of your hobby.

22. ICE CREAM
Oh yum! Take a photo of ice cream!

23. PASTEL
A pastel colour is a soft and delicate colour. Take a photo of a pastel colour.

24. PATH
Head outside and take a photo of a path. It could be wet footprints left behind, or a path through grass, or a city path. What paths will you see today?

25. PEEK-A-BOO
What do you think when you see those words? I think of a person hiding behind their hands. You could get creative and use a tube, taking a photo down it of someone’s eye.

26. OUT OF PLACE
Take a photo of something that doesn’t quite fit in {preferably not a person, as we don’t want to hurt people’s feelings}. Perhaps it’s a bright colour among dark things, or something soft among hard things.

27. A SHAPE
Circle! Square! Triangle! Oval! Any shape will do! Keep an eye out for shapes as you go about your day today.

28. I LOVE THIS!
What are you loving right now? The weather? A person? A book? A food? Share it.

29. LEAP
Well, it’s a leap year, so it’s only right. Take a photo of someone or something leaping!

Have fun with it! Which prompt above are you excited about most?

  1. I’ve been playing along with your photo a day for years yet have never managed to complete a full one. So This year I set myself the challenge of doing just that! A few of these prompts will have me thinking outside the square as I don’t drink coffee either & we have no pets. Will need to get creative or find ways to stretch the prompt so I can continue to not miss a day. Also loving that it’s now back to monthly too 🙂

    • You can totally do it. I’m happy to help!

Coffee – go out with a friend {or lover ?} and have them order coffee. Or share what you drink instead.

Pet – A pet rock, or go for a walk and see if you can see any cute animals peeking through gates or ask someone if you can take a photo of their lovely animal. ?
