A day in the world.

By now you may have figured that I have an addiction to photography, particularly every day photography. I love snapping things from my daily life, as well as looking at people’s photos from their day {it’s the equivalent of peeking through their bathroom cabinet or fridge. Oh yes!}.

Recently I was told about a movement called ‘A day in the world’. They’re encouraging people {starting yesterday, up until May 22nd} to pick up their cameras {or phones} and snap away. Snap daily life and share in a worldwide photographic event. You don’t have to be a great photographer, it’s just something fun to take part in. I think I might even get Lacey to take a pic and upload it as well.

I shot a day in my life with my new camera. Here it is:

Breakfast with side of vitamins. It was a 4 weetbix kinda morning.

Ready for a work meeting and I kiss this bed-haired monster as I go. And yes, we have mucho toilet paper.

En route.

Meeting done and a quick phone call home.

Dropping Hubby to the airport in my lunch break. He’s leaving on a jet plane. Sigh. But I know when he’ll be back again.

Back to work.

Happy mail! Clothes from the US of A.

A quick walk up the road to get my dry cleaning. She spotted a bird.

And home again.

Dinner while I work.

And a chocolate treat. Don’t tell anyone.

Watching The Block in bed while Little Miss nods off beside me.

If you want to upload your photo and be part of the project, visit here. All of the photos will be viewable onsite and some will be selected to be part of a book due out later this year. Alternatively you can share photos on Twitter or Instagram and use the hashtag #aday12

What do you think would make the perfect photo of your day? Will you be snapping for ‘a day’?

    • I certainly do have cracks on my screen! I bought a new laptop a year ago and I haven't transferred it all over. So this sucker just keeps using the broken one.

How cool to be staring at the same crack – so many miles apart!

  1. I love that you shared this! There is just something comfortable and familiar about it. Made me smile. Happy day. ~Deirdre
ps…in photos how do you get the background to disappear? Like in the weetabix shot?

  2. I just wanted to tell you that I am a fan of everything you do. I started following you on Instagram (Jgarc13) when I found the photoadaymay project and fell in love with it. We are half a world a part I live in Massachusetts, USA and feel a connection to your world through your photos. You are an inspiration!!! Thanks Jess G

  3. Thank you so very much for sharing this I'm soo excited to start even though I know I am starting late… I received a new camera with our tax refund in 2011 so for a year I have just kept saying I would learn to use it soon… Well now I have a real reason to start!! Thank you again, Kim

  4. “Hi my name is Penny…and I am a photography addict” Thanks for the share about this, I have just joined up and am going to start tomorrow. Now my weird, everyday photos of things that only I seem to care about have a reason to be taken!Loving your pics by the way, I too have a mad bed-haired monster too so that one made me smile!

  5. I just LOVE the way you frame your shots Chantelle! I like to think I'm good at it, but I've got a lot to learn. I love photography soo much…have learnt the odd thing or two, but I can't learn much more without an actual SLR…oh how I long for one, sadly though it keeps getting put back on the back burner. Jealous much of your Canon 7D? Yes I am, lol. Enjoy!

  6. Chantelle, I signed up to be a member. It says photos taken on May 15 to be uploaded by May 22. today is May 18. does this still qualify?

  7. I am a wedding photographer but have gotten right back in to photographing the vicissitudes of everyday life. I am loving it. Even if I shoot the same spot of sunset on my dining room wall it is a release to see the beauty in the ordinary moments as much as the extraordinary ones.

  8. Ok, this might be the dumbest comment but… yeah, whatever. I just wanted to say that I found really nice-good-Idon'treallyknow that you said “the US of A.” not just America (like most people call it. When is actually just a part of América, anyways) I don't know, I just wanted to “share” that with you.
    + I absolutely love you blog (:
