Ah it’s good to be home. I am so happy to be home. There’s been tantrums, and pooey nappies and mess, but I am so glad to be home and amongst it.
Today I’ve got a few things to do, appointments to get to and a new car to pick up {woot!} and probably a lot of downtime in between, so I thought I’d leave you with this.
I freaking LOVE seeing what people buy when they go away. I bought a few things. Maybe more than a few things. It’s the perils of traveling alone and wanting to spoil my loved ones. Sorry budget.
Here’s what I bought:
A cap for my sport-mad husband. I also bought him a singlet which I learned the people in the U.S. don’t call by that name. I think they call it a vest? Maybe.
My goodies from Trader Joe’s. That is the biggest, heaviest block of chocolate I ever held.
When I left home, Lacey told me she just wanted lollies {candy}. American candy. So I picked up a few things. Plus some scented markers.
We don’t really celebrate Halloween at home, so I went a bit crazy for the baking stuff. Can’t wait to create things!
I love felt things, and I needed this for Lulu. I grabbed it from Michael’s. Excited about this too!
I bought these for me. A book and Post-It notes. I get a bit excited about Post-It notes, especially when they come in different colours from what I get at home.
Meow! Little cat cups. Just cute.
These were cheap and cheerful from Target; bath shapes, birthday cake bubble gum, stickers for Halloween, sprinkles for Halloween, puddy and candy corn. I’ve always wanted to taste candy corn, I have a feeling it’s going to be gross!
I went to Sephora to buy my girlfriend Rebel some beauty products and got so sucked in that I bought some for me too. Sucker!
I also got some cheap PJs for Lulu, a little dress and a dress for Lacey.
I got myself some tops from Macys. On sale! And then some exercise pants from Lane Bryant and a skirt too.
Swimmers/cossies/bathers were on sale at Target, so I grabbed these for $4 for Lacey. She’s crazy about rainbows and cheetah, so loves these.
Have a great Monday. Take it easy. x
Looks like you came back with more than brought with you. LOL! I hope you had tons of fun in San Francisco and at Pixar. I just wish I could’ve met you while you were here. Let me know if you ever need more colorful post its. ?
Oh definitely! Was a heavy suitcase on return!
And! OMG I will totally let you know if I need a new stash of Post-Its. So many colours. x
I was thinking about you yesterday and your homecoming and then I thought about what you bought – I love seeing what people bring back from holiday. Your food stuff is going to totally look the part this Halloween! Actually, I don’t know how you managed to fit so much cute (and delicious) in one post! LOL!
Thanks Sam! Can’t wait to bake and create. 🙂
I think guy’s singlet tops in America have the unflattering name of ‘wifebeater’. Lovely.
Ugh. Unlike. 🙁
They are known by some as “wifebeaters”, but also as “tank tops” or tank shirts” and sometimes an “A shirt”. Vest is a term used in the UK I believe. A vest in the US is what I think you’d call a “waistcoat”.
I’m sorry that you let candy corn take up space in your luggage. It’s far, far worse than you can imagine.?
But glad to hear you had a fun time !
Oh I am so scared to try it now!
Haha, I was just kidding- I mean, they ARE gross, but not as bad as dirt-flavored Bertie Bott’s every flavor beans or anything !
Oh I love candy corn we managed to find it in Brisbane years ago. I love your stash 🙂
Thanks Row. xx
Hve you tried the Haribo gummy bears in Australia? They are pretty decent and I suspect similar to the Trader Joe ones.
Yeah, I love them! 🙂
I am so very lucky! See you this arvo x
Did you try the Ghirardelli chocolate when you were there? It and the Boudin bread are our pride and joys. I see you made it to my side job…Target…and hit the dollar department! LOL! I still can’t resist all those $1-$3 things! SO happy you had such a good time!
I didn’t. We were there and I was ready to do it, but I had no room in my tummy. It was a tragedy!
Love those bathers! Super cute. I always spend more on the kids when I’m on my own than when they’re with me. Cute toys that I say no to at home seem like the best idea ever when I’m away. How fun is it to see those happy excited faces though when you give them their presents. Just like Christmas!
They were so happy. I was pretty much Santa.
Rainbow swimwear and those cute little Halloween decorations! Love love love xx
Thanks Jackie! x
loved looking through these. i LOVE STUFF
Ha, me too! STUFF ROCKS.
Birthday cake bubble gum? Hope it’s as good as it sounds 😀
Lacey is into making videos, so we did it this morning and taped it. I gagged. On vidoe. It’s not good, at all.
I bought the same gum last weekend and it was totally gross!
This was the best! Thanks for sharing photos of all the goodies – just as good (nearly) as getting presents!
I’m so glad it was enjoyable for you. 🙂
I wanted to try candy corn when I was in US last year and was there in sept/oct so it was everywhere! Bought a bag to bring home and try – I loved it, tasted like caramel
Caramel sounds good!
How fun! I am always fascinated by the stuff we can’t get at home. I once got to try candy corn at a Halloween party held by an American girl. It was actually pretty good!
I am scared to try it, but I will soon. 🙂
What a fabulous stash – and you’re a fabulous friend, mummy and wifey! See you on Thursday! Em xx
Looking forward to seeing you, as always. xx
Oh I love those little meat cleaver cupcake decorations!! In fact I love all of your goodies. The cat cups are super cute!!!
candy corn is one of those things that you either love or hate… hope you loved it! My kids are crazy about it!!!
What a cute little haul of travel treasures, love it!!
You did good girl! I buy the same things at Trader Joe’s. The Pound Plus bars are The Best as is the Cookie Butter.
I want to know what you think about the birthday cake gum from Target. I bought some a few weeks ago and love it. I think they did a good job capturing the cake flavor.
By the way, I’m in the U.S. and happy to send you things you can’t get in Australia.
Jennifer
Thanks for sharing the contents of your shopping bag! I really enjoyed looking at all the little treasures you picked up! I saw a recipe (quite a long and complicated one) the other day about how to make those tiny little edible googly eyes…but now I see they come in a packet I so couldn’t be bothered making them. Bet I struggle to find them here in AUS though! :/
Want me to send you some?
Oh gosh, would you be so kind? A half dozen would do! I’d love to make these kooky critters with my little guy…(will email you my address). Thanks Chica! x
Of course! I’d love to. xxx
what a beautiful , colorful purchase. Really love the cat cups and rainbow colored swimsuit 🙂
This is a really great stash! Funny story about the Trader Joe’s chocolate is that I never realized how heavy it was because my dad would just buy several bars at once and we’d just put it in our luggage to come home. Crazy, right!
