This is just one of my pile of books beckoning for me to read it. I’m far too optimistic when buy books. I’m all, “I’ll find the time!” And I never do. I think the solution is a lamp beside my bed, especially now that I don’t have a toddler sleeping next to me {whom I was scared of waking}.
What are you reading at the moment? What book/s are in your reading pile?
P.S. The Artist’s Way was a birthday gift from my boss. She thinks I’m too creative for my own good and that it sometime sends me a little batty. It’s on top of the pile. Not literally, but I’ll be reading it next. I promise.
P.P.S. The Choice Guide to Baby Products is a work book. No, I’m not pregnant.
I'm currently reading Bronte's story. It's a sad book. I think I need to find a happy book next!
I *always* seem to have several books on the go…the winner tends to be the one I have to finish for work đŸ˜›
Right now I am reading Nikki Gemmel's 'With My Body' and loving it, several up-pub'd manuscripts for work, still reading Anita Heiss' lovely book 'Paris Dreaming' and also sneaking in a bit of 'Mosquito Advertising' by Kate Hunter and 'New Earth' by Eckhart Tolle
Im reading One Unknown by Gill Hicks. True story about how Gill (she's an Aussie) survived the London bombings. Its an inspirational journey of how she has to learn a new way of life. Pretty full on! đŸ™‚
save yourself some time and don't bother reading eat pray love …. !!!
Jessica Rowe's book is such a lovely, easy read. Good for when you are having a soak in the bath at the end of the day.
Don't waste your time with Eat Pray Love – it's rubbish
i too am reading Nikki Gemmel's 'With My Body' thanks to Anj's recommendation!
But i have a reading pile that currently sits at 65+ books and yet i continue to add to it regularly….*sigh* i have a problem, obviously!
ooh, I have to disagree about eat pray love, i think it is worth reading.
I am currently reading we need to talk about Kevin, I just finished the help (which was awesome) and read virals by Kathy reichs in between.
my reading pile has become a shadow of its former self since I got a kindle.
Tatum xx
The 4 Hour Work Week is a great read – plus you can pick it up and down as you go…which is perfect when you have a bucketload to go through!
I'm reading Angel in the Rubble: the Miraculous Rescue of 9/11's Last Survivor – all about the last person pulled from the World Trade Center alive. It's an amazing and thought provoking read so far.
I was reading loads earlier this year thanks to a lovely new Kindle from REG at Christmas and then kinda stopped. I read Eat, Pray, Love and enjoyed it – it's not the world's best lit or anything but I found it thought provoking and good for me for where I was then. Currently toggling between Jane Austin's Sense and Sensibility and Percy Jackson Lightning Thief – don't ask, some nights I just need rubbish to read to slow my brain down. I love the look of your pile and I've been seeing the Happiness Project everywhere. In fact based on my “if it pops up in my life 3 times I should do it/read it/buy it” approach I think it might have to land in my Kindle next!
I can vouch for Jessica Rowe's Love Wisdom and Motherhood. It's a really interesting insight into how some well-known Aussie mums juggle the kids/work/life balance. It's another one you can easy dip in and out of when the urge strikes, too.
I have so many books! I love to read. I always love to read something new. Currently I'm reading a book from the library called 'My Year with Eleanor'. It's a memoir about a woman who wants to conquer things that scare her, in a year. It's pretty inspiring, and funny so far!
I'm currently reading 'The Life Before Her Eyes', by Laura Kasischke. It's the first time I can say I honestly enjoyed the movie better…
That pile is about as high as mine! Except mine's almost all fiction, current reads are 'Ragnarok' and 'Possession' by AS Byatt.
Another vote here for the Kindle. No more reading “pile”… just lots of lovely books waiting to be read.
I'm currently reading “Trash” by Andy Mulligan for my book club. Just finished “Food, Sex and Money” (no, not the story of my life) by Liz Byrski. Great (older?) chick lit.
Hi – from your newest follower
Eat Pray Love is a good book – but not worth the hurry to read
I am currently reading Love the One You're with by Emily Giffin (She also wrote Something Borrowed)
There is nothing better than having a pile of books next to your bed
Lisa
I am going through an Alexander McCall Smith phase – have just read 'Miracle at Speedy Motors' now on to 'Tea Time for the Traditionally Built'. So love the way he writes – oh to be smart like him!!
I loved 'Eat Pray Love' some valuable life lessons to learn.
I too have a Kindle, Mr Cool bought me one when he realised it was cheaper to buy me one than to buy and find space for a new bookshelf! I do love it. But I miss the smell of paper….
Will read Tom Sawyer next. (Free on the Kindle – yesssss!)
I'm reading 'Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet' for book club and really enjoying it. I try to focus on one book at a time, so I'm not sure what will be next… probably the next book club book which is undecided as yet!
I just finished reading One Day by David Nicholls. It's a beautiful, emotional love story, and now my favourite book ever!!
I'm currently half way through the mountain that is Shantaram, which I finally want to climb (I keep having to put it down for lengthy periods of time). And I'd love to read Jessica Rowe's book.
I wish I had more time for reading. I should probably stop watching so much tv…. Maybe. đŸ™‚
xx
When God Was a Rabbit by Sarah Winman! Great book. I”m normally a Jodie Picoult slave but this was great for something different…
Burn 'eat pray love'..awful awful book. Just finished 'kids' by patti smith – superb read as it's a beautiful story about friendship and love.
Oh I also have The Artist's Way – be careful when you start though as it's not really a book to read, more like a course to folllow. It's good though! PS your boss is right, you have creativity flowing through your veins x
I've a similar mix of books piled next to and under my bed – fiction, self-help, baby and toddler. Sad fact is they've been there since i was pregnant almost a year ago and I've not moved one since bub was born 7 months ago. The bookshelf is also full of books i want to read. He kindle seems practical but there's something about the feel of a book that it can't replace.
I just finished One Day by David Nicholls, it was OK. I wasn't prepared for the ending.
After that I quickly read Rachel's Holiday by Marian Keyes – I'm after her first book Watermelon but it's not on the Kindle.
So I'm starting The Lake of Dreams by Kim Edwards.
I have a few piles of books in the bedroom and then a few more in the study, I keep going through them and prioritising them in to how I want to read them, but never actually get around to reading them before buying new books!
im reading the happiness project… i love it and i know you would too! the artists way is supposed to be a.maz.ing… let me know what you think cause im planning to buy that and read it next!
I agree with others… Don't bother with Eat Pray Love, use it for fire wood!
I notice you have Timothy Ferriss' 4 hour work week in your pile. I read his other book '4 hour body' and it was absolutley hilarious. He has a terrific writing style so I am sure you will enjoy his work đŸ™‚
Oooh, I love your book pile. But sadly, mine is 17 books high. And it keeps getting added to. But now I have to stop adding and start reading. I'm blogging less just so I can squeeze in my other loves.
I have the Artist's Way in my pile and cant wait to read it!
I hope you get some reading time soon. xx
