  1. Folding laundry. Ugh. I don’t mind putting it in the washer or dryer but folding it? Blech. With all the modern technology, shouldn’t the dryer be able to fold it for me?

  2. I also hate putting the quilt into its cover. This is an easy thing to fix. I put the doona on the bed and then the cover on top, like a bedspread. My doona is washable, so into the machine it goes on a regular basis. The quilt cover can be washed with the sheets, if needed. Only thing worse than making a bed is ironing!

  3. For me, I really hate putting the clean dishes away from the dishwasher… It doesn’t bother me at all washing the dirty dishes, but I will let the dirty dishes pile up if the dishwasher is full of clean dishes… that’s my “UGH”!

  4. I finally learned HOW to put the cover on the quilt. You lay the cover, inside out with opening facing you, on the bed. You put the quilt on top of that. You reach inside the cover and grab the farthest two corners and grab the quilt corners also. Then you pick it up so that the cover and the blanket fall down with the quilt ending up inside of it. It works for me!

    • See even that sends shivers up my spine. We just bought a king bed, with a king quilt and right now the quilt inside is in the wrong way. I can’t bring myself to change it – as easy as it probably is – so it’s in there lumpy and wrong.

  5. I don’t DO quilts either and I HATE bed making, at least it only takes a few seconds, vacuuming is not my fave either…I’d rather stack and unstack the dishwasher!

  6. I can’t think of just one thing, I hate the most. I don’t hate ironing, because I just don’t do it, lol! I would have to say it is the bed too, if I was choosing the most detested. I make the hubster do the doonah because I am too short and have to stand on the bed to shake it in, but I hate the kids beds even more, beds against walls, cots, need I say more? Especially in winter, all those blankets!

  7. I absolutely hate scrubbing the bathtub. It seems I scrub and scrub away and can never get the tub to shine like I want it to! Give me any other chore!

  8. Scrubbing the shower. It seems so utterly pointless. Perhaps I’m not doing it right but I can’t really be bothered trying to figure out how to scrub to get a result, I just don’t care enough.

  9. I think for me its two really dishes (although dishwasher makes it easier) and laundry, kids go through clean clothes so quickly 🙁 The ones I dont mind too much is folding washing and baking (haha).

  10. The one I hate above all others is putting clothes away. Perhaps from being nagged incessantly as a child. Happy to clean bathrooms, wash, hang washing and put it away. But oh my lord the getting it out of the washng basket and putting it away – for some reason totally does my head in.

  11. I’d pick LAUNDRY! All parts of it; sorting, sticking in the machine, folding, ironing, putting away. We really have it good with machines that do all the hard work for us, but MAN I still hate it!

  12. I hate cleaning out the fridge. Hence a different kind of ‘in the fridge’ picture for me the other day. I was ashamed after seeing how clean (and full) everyone’s fridges are! haha

  13. I would have to pick laundry, hanging it, folding it and putting it away i just hate all of it! Lucky i have a great hubby and he does it all before and after work:)

  14. I used to hate making my bed til I got a feather doona – its so light! I dont know if you do this, but I have the quilt cover inside out, so I kinda reach inside the cover, pinch the corners and then pinch the corners of the doona and turn it inside out…sorta thing… cant explain it well, haha! For me I hate dusting!! Especially on those surfaces like display tables where you’ve got lots of little ornaments and that sorta thing, you have to take each one off, dust, put it back on, etc argh so time consuming!

  15. Loading and unloading the dishwasher. I thought i would like having one again but nope, i don’t, its good for hiding the dirty dishes though:)

  16. Hate cleaning the bathroom! Love having a clean one, but hate the actual cleaning. Best living arrangement was when I was flatting and my flatmate cleaned the toilet and bathroom and I did everything else – was fair to me!

  17. I procrastinate about emptying the dishwasher; it’s crazy cause it only takes 5 minutes to do. I would rather not dust either, but again,it goes really fast once I get to it.

  18. Putting clothes away. Don’t mind the washing, the hanging or the folding – I fold as I take them off the line but the putting away? It just doesn’t happen. They end up sitting in the basket, folded, for ages. If Guv can’t find what he’s looking for in the wardrobe, he doesn’t bother asking anymore and just goes in search of the basket with the folded clean clothes in it!

  19. the dishes! I just want the dishwasher we brought 2years ago, set up and functioning! Dishes for 6 people is just soooooooooo BLAH!!! And I often have cake decorating stuff and baking ect for school lunches!

  20. I hate folding/hanging laundry. I don’t mind sorting it, washing it and transferring it to the dryer. I have a hard time getting it from the dryer back to the closet.

  21. Dusting! I have lots of collectibles that I love, and I love them clean, but I hate dusting them, so if I could get help, I would choose someone to dust my house thoroughly once a week.

  22. I would have to say dusting.. if you use a wet wipe, it’s a killer for hands and nails, not to mention how fast the dust settles back down again and really sticks on every surface.. I use vacuum cleaner with a small brush head for dusting these days, but then you gotta be careful not to have those small items sucked in!! With many chores it’s not about hating them, but about being bothered to do them…

  23. Housework….. Just all of it…… Just because I’m the only girl in the house, why does it make everything MY job? I work full-time too. Nothing is “rocket-science” but it gets left for me to do on my day off! 😮 To be fair, the Other Half cooks if he’s around (using every pan in the house, I swear) and I can get one of the sons to do my least favourite – emptying the dishwasher…. I’d leave that until I had a big pile to go back in if the son didn’t do it! Making the beds doesn’t worry me because I love getting into nice, fresh sheets and covers! 😀 Jude.x

    • Getting into the bed is the fun part. Definitely.

Cleaning should always be shared. 🙁 I’d be putting on my cranky pants and letting it be known, or drawing up a chart to share the load. OR getting a cleaner in. Or something. xx

  24. For me, it’s the dishes. Changing the quilt covers comes a close 2nd. But it’s 2nd only because I don’t have to do it everyday!

  25. cleaning out the fridge..I do it every week so its not gross but yuck..dead flies..the result of three boys gawking..hmmm…do I tell..I actually vacume it then wipe it out because I hate touching dead flies..so not OH&S ..lol…PS I read some where that an unmade ‘look’ bed is actually very fashionable..so your on the trend..lol.

  26. The ‘H'(ousework) word and I are not really friends, but my most hated job is vacuuming (Hoovering as we call it here) ~ the hassle of getting him out of the cupboard, plugging him in, sticking his nozzle in and then having him get stuck in corners, doorways, tripping me up etc … ugh!

Also I can understand your abhorrence of bed changing being an ex-chambermaid!

  27. Dishes. Yes, that would be dishes. When I was younger, my mom would give me a choice… do the Sunday dishes (a 10 minute job) OR clean and dust the house. I ALWAYS chose cleaning the whole house (yes, a 3 hr min job). The thought of putting my hands in water with some leftover food would just make me gag. Yes, I would say, dishes. Physically ill to touch a dish that has been used. Don’t ask why… don’t know!!! Even when we got a dishwasher – I couldn’t bring myself to even load it… nope, let me clean the whole house!!!!! So, I guess I can safely say my most hated chore would be dishes. In a few months I will be on my own, and I believe I will be buying stock in paper plates and plastic utensils!!!

  28. Both Lovely Husband and I hate putting away the fruit and veggies after a shop. We’re both happy to do the cold-stuff, the cupboard stuff, the laundry stuff, the bathroom stuff, etc. But those veggies usually sit in the shopping (green) bag until dinner. I suspect it has something to do with feeling obliged to clean out the crisper.

  29. I would say laundry. It makes me kinda sad and i feel kinda pathetic since our grandmothers didn’t have washing machines and dryers and they did most of their stuff by hand growing up. So i guess we shouldn’t whine too much but DAMN I HATE IT!

  30. I have made it to 44 and never owned an iron, so I can’t say ironing. So it would be a hard call between cleaning the oven and cleaning the shower. Just gagging thinking about having to clean out the dead hair in the drain and attempting to clean the shower scum off the glass, so think cleaning the shower wins.

  31. Here is the thing, I have to make my bed every day or I will go crazy thinking about how it’s not made; it’s OCD at its finest but putting the duvet cover on is the bane of my existence!

  32. I hate folding clothes. I don’t mind pegging them out and I love how they smell when you get them in from being in the fresh air and sunshine but the sitting down and folding it all is such a crappy job. Yawn.

  33. Love making my bed because it looks gorgeous – HATE weeding the garden – but enjoy the results! : )
