September 2020 | Photo A Day Challenge

Fat Mum Slim /

Pinch and a punch, welcome to a new month.

I always love September because it marks the end of winter, and the start of my favourite season… there’s something exciting about that for me. I hope this month brings lots of good things and inspiration for you.

HOW TO PLAY
+ Playing along could not be easier! I promise. Just look at the list each day and take a photo using the prompt as inspiration. So, for example, Day 1 is THIS IS SUPER DUPER, so all you have to do is take a photo of something that you think is pretty darn super!
+ You can then share your photo on either Facebook or Instagram or both! To share on Instagram, just upload with the hashtag #FMSPAD and you’re done {more details below if you need them though!} and to share on Facebook, upload to your personal page or jump into our Facebook group and share there.

HOW TO PLAY ON INSTAGRAM
+ Simply upload the photo to Instagram, add a caption {you could mention the day and the prompt in the caption}, add the hashtag #FMSPAD and then publish.
+ Check out the #FMSPAD hashtag to see all the other photos. Like them. Comment on them. Be part of the community.
+ Each day a Fab Four is picked from the photos shared on Instagram for the challenge. It’s four photos that have captured our attention from each prompt. Check the feed here to see the photos.
+ To make it easier to find all the daily photos, you can find and use the daily hashtags below. Simply add them to your caption when uploading to Instagram.

HOW TO SHARE ON FACEBOOK
+ Upload the photo in our Facebook Photo A Day group {you’ll be added within 12 hours of requesting}, add a caption {you could mention the day and the prompt in the caption} and then publish. You’re also welcome to share on your personal page, if that’s how you like to roll.
+ Check out the photos shared in the group, or among your friends. Comment, like and be part of the photo-taking community.
+ Each day a Fab Four is picked from the photos shared in our Facebook group for the challenge by our lovely admin team. It’s four {or more} photos that have captured our attention from each prompt. The photos are made into a collage, shared and pinned to the top of the group.

HOW TO REMEMBER THE PROMPTS EASILY
+ For all devices and PC, we upload the prompts which you can download automatically into your phone or PC calendar. For Smartphones & Mac Calendar, click here. For HTML for web viewing, click here.
+ You can also print out the list, save it as your screensaver or save it to your camera roll.

If you need a little help with the prompts and some ideas on what to take photos of, here’s a little help:

1. THIS IS SUPER DUPER
What’s something that you think is pretty darn super right now? Take a photo of it and share it.

2. ROUND
Look for something in the shape of a circle, and share it!

3. PHOTOGRAPHY
This is a broad one, which means you can get creative. You might take a photo of a camera, or a photo of a photo you’ve taken… or a photo of anything you like, because… photography!

4. SUGAR
Yes, that sweet stuff. You could take a photo of white sugar, or sugar cane {if you live in area like me with sugar cane fields everywhere} or perhaps a beautiful cake from your local bakery.

5. COLOUR PLAY
This one is simply asking you to have fun with colour. You could get the pencils or paints out, or you can edit your photo with some colourful filters!

6. MYSELF
Yep, you! Share a photo of you, or something about you!

7. RINGS
This can be circles, or maybe even jewellery!

8. HOME
Home sweet home! We sure have seen a lot of our own homes of late. Can you share a corner of it, or something that reminds you of home?

9. GOOD STUFF
What’s good in your life today? Share it!

10. LIFE
Another broad one so that you can be creative as you like. You could share something about what’s happening in your life, a still life photo, or anything that gives us a glimpse into your daily life.

11. CRAFT

Show us something you made, or something else made!

12. TROPICAL
Cocktails. Palm trees. Beaches. Pool. Share a photo of something tropical.

13. TRAVEL
I know most of us aren’t traveling to far away places, but we still travel – even from the fridge to the couch. Share a photo of travel {walking, bus, car, plane, skateboard!}.

14. NOOK
A nook is a corner or recess – share a photo of a little nook you come across today.

15. DELIGHT

Zingy generally means lively, exciting, and a little bit zesty! Take a photo of something zingy.

18. LINES
There are lines all around us – in the brickwork of our homes, in the powerlines above us, and on the notepad beside us. Take a photo of some lines.

19. ALONE
Being alone means having no one else present. You could take a photo of a tree standing out on it’s lonesome, a solo person at the beach or park, a dog running alone, or a bird flying in the sky without any others.

20. MUSIC
Share your favourite song, someone dancing, an instrument…

21. SHINY
Look for shiny, sparkly things today as you go about. Share one in a photo.

22. GARDEN

You could take a photo of something that makes your heart full, or a literal love heart.

24. ART
Look for art and share a piece in a photo!

25. BETTER TOGETHER
What is better together? You and another person? Avocado and salt? Caramel and chocolate? You decide!

26. I FOUND THIS
What did you find today? Or perhaps in a day gone by? A coin? A feather? Share it!

27. DUO
A duo is a pair of people or things. Take a photo of a duo.

28. SPECIAL
Take a photo of something that is special to you!

29. THIS IS CLEVER
When I think of something clever, I usually think of a gadget or something that makes life easier. What do you think of?

30. DESIGN
Last prompt for the month, design! Take a photo of something that has been designed. A building. A piece of clothing.
