My 6 Fave Plus Size Undies That Won’t Let You Down (or out!)

Image: NALA

If there is anyone is super fussy about plus size underwear, it’s me! So much so that I think I could be an expert in it. I have no time for cheap fabrics, for underwear (we call them undies in Australia, if you’re not from around here!) that rides up in places it shouldn’t, and for undies that just don’t feel good.

So, to save you time and money on not-so-great plus size underwear, I have pulled together my faves into one place, this blog post.

What makes them great, or not-so-great?

The Fabric. We live in Australia, and I live in the humid Gold Coast, so if you get a cheap fabric, then it can mean sweating a whole lot, which is not great for anyone. I look for cotton, and find that a cotton/nylon/elastane mix is perfect for comfort, because it breathes and moves with the body.

The Seams. Tags and seams can be irritating, especially in your underwear. I love that with B Free and Taking Shape don’t have tags, and limited seams, meaning a smooth fit.

The Coverage. Personally I prefer high waisted underwear, and always have, but when wearing briefs I like them to have coverage on the leg, and that my tummy is completely covered. I think the 6 brands below have taken the time to understand plus size bodies, and this is why they’re winners in my eyes.

Where to shop plus size underwear

B Free Australia - Plus Size Underwear

Bridget’s Cotton Full Brief

The most comfortable underwear I’ve ever worn. I love a high waisted underwear, so these are perfect for me. They breathe, are super soft, while still having some structure and support, and they don’t ride up for your bottom. Win!

Sizes 12 to 26

B Free Australia - Taking Shape

Bamboo Everyday Underwear

If you love super soft underwear, these will work for you. I love these for traveling (for on the plane, and tropical locations) because the Bamboo fabric is breathable and comfortable to wear.

Sizes 12 to 30

Intimo - Plus Size Underwear

Everyday Control Brief

These are meant to be shapewear, but I find them comfortable for any day, with gentle support rather than sucking you in. The fabric is delicious, and although they’re pricier, they are made well and last a very long time.

Sizes 8 to 22

City Chic - Plus Size Underwear

Bodycon Brief

I’m always pretty impressed with City Chic’s underwear (especially their shapewear), they seem to always have everyone on sale too, making them great value. Buy when you see them reduced.

Sizes 14 to 24

Nala - Plus Size Underwear

Bio High Waist Brief

NALA underwear is so fun (not something you usually associate with plus size briefs!) and comes in the coolest colours. These are super soft, and have an added layer of mesh down the front for more support. You can get 15% off with code FATMUMSLIM15.

Sizes 6 to 26

PAIRE - Plus Size Underwear

High-Waisted Full Brief

This fabric! Made from a super soft modal and silk fibre, these are so soft to wear and comfortable (no cutting in!). Without visible seams, they’re great for wearing under clothing that you don’t want a VPL.

Sizes 6 to 24

A little note. For the past 15 years, I’ve loved writing and sharing my life, the good and bad, with you, my beautiful readers. Over those years I’ve often recommended products, and services that I’ve tested, tried and/or researched. Off my blog, I’ve always been the person that people go to to ask, “Do you know what the best X is?” I’ll often publish blog posts or guides to products that I’m having fun researching, and would recommend. Some of those posts, like this one, may include paid inclusions (where I may receive a small commission at no cost to you), but I promise to only feature products that I have or would happily buy myself. Honesty and transparency is, and always will be super important to me, because I know it’s important to you too.
