How to make a no-cook breakfast in bed (that kids can actually make!) 🌸

Mother's Day Breakfast

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and if you’re hoping for a slow start, a hot cuppa, and maybe even breakfast in bed (without having to clean up a disaster zone after), this one’s for you.

The trick? A no-cook Mother’s Day breakfast that the kids can pull together—with zero stress and zero flames. Here are some fun, easy, and yummy ideas for a no-cook platter that feels special but is super simple to make.

Mother’s Day Breakfast Ideas

🥞 1. Pancake stack from the supermarket

You don’t need to fire up the stove—just grab pre-made pancakes from Coles or Woolies (usually in the bakery section). They’re fluffy, cheap (around $4 for 5), and perfect for smothering in jam or cream.
Top with: Jam, whipped cream, Nutella, maple syrup, or sliced fruit (slice the night before or give the kids a kid-friendly knife to use).

🧇 2. Waffles (the kind you just toast)

If your kid is old enough to use a toaster (or air fryer), grab some frozen waffles and pop them in until crispy. I got these ones from the frozen section of Coles.
Add: Berries, yoghurt, or a dusting of icing sugar for a fancy touch.

🍓 3. Fruit kebabs

Pop chopped fruit onto skewers or just pile them into a little bowl. Kids love making these, and they’re fresh and colourful.
Try: Strawberries, melon, grapes, banana slices, blueberries.

🧀 4. Mini cheese & cracker board

For the mums who like things a little more savoury, add a few crackers, cubes of cheese, maybe some baby cucumbers or cherry tomatoes. Or even add in some salami.
Optional: A fancy love note on the side, written by the kids.

🧁 5. A sweet treat

Pop a mini muffin, croissant, or store-bought pastry on the platter. It adds that café vibe without turning the oven on. Bonus points if an adult takes the kids out in the morning to grab said muffin, and leaves mum in peace and quiet for a little while.

☕ 6. The “grown-up” drink

If your little one isn’t quite ready to make coffee, set aside a jar of instant, your favourite tea, or even a cold juice they can pour into a nice glass. Bonus points if they remember the ice cubes!

More lovely tips:

💐 Let the kids decorate the tray with a flower or a scribbled “Happy Mother’s Day!” note.
🛏️ Don’t forget a napkin. Trust me.
🥣 Embrace the chaos. It’s the love that counts.
