French Onion Meatballs

  • Author: Chantelle Ellem

Description

These are a delicious take on meatballs, with the addition of French Onion soup mix. So tasty!

Ingredients

Scale

500g beef mince

1/2 onion, finely chopped

1/2 cup dried breadcrumbs

2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

40g packet French Onion Soup mix

1 egg, lightly beaten

Plain flour, for dusting

1/4 cup vegetable oil, for cooking

Tomato chutney or tomato sauce, to serve

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the mince, onion, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, French Onion soup mix, and egg. Mix well to combine. I find it’s best to use your hands here, but if that grosses you out, you can use a spatula.
  2. Roll the mixture into heaped tablespoon sized balls, and roll each in plain flour to coat, and shake off excess. Arrange on a plate or tray, and chill for 10 minutes in the fridge (this just makes them stay together better – but I often skip this step when I’m short on time, and it’s totally fine).
  3. Heat a large frying pan over medium heat and place oil in the pan. Cook the meatballs for 8-10 minutes, turning to cook all sides.
  4. Serve hot or cold.
