Finger Food: Easy tuna topping {it’s REALLY good!}

I know some people turn their noses up at tuna {yes, Hubby… that means you} but this is just so good. So good that my tuna-hating husband loves it. I think the whole fish in a can thing turned him off initially. You can have it as a dip with crackers and vegetable sticks, or you can dollop it on top of bagel crisps with a little sour cream and chives placed on top. Or if you’re feeling really fancy it’s REALLY good on top of a herb pikelet. I can’t find the recipe I’ve used before for the pikelets, but I’m sure a quick Google will find you a good one.

Ingredients

1 425g can tuna in oil
1 lemon, juiced
1 small red onion, chopped
1/2 cup coriander, chopped
Salt + pepper
Sour cream and fresh chives to top

Method

♥ Place tuna {drain a little of the oil off if you like} and lemon in a bowl, and blend using a hand blender. Mix in the onion, coriander and some salt + pepper.
♥ As mentioned above, use as a dip or top onto bagel crisps, slices of fresh baguette or onto herb pikelets. Top with a little bit of sour cream and a little fresh chives.

Note: If I’m feeling particularly indulgent, I’ll add a spoonful of sour cream to the dip mix and stir it through.

Are you a tuna fan? Or do you steer clear of fish in a can?

  1. Like yours, my partner turns his nose up at tuna. So when hes especially late home for dinner Ill make tuna and lemon spaghetti just to annoy him 😉 I like the idea of the dip sounds delicious.

  2. Yum! The beauty of canned – you can also go a little more up market (tehehe) and use some red salmon 🙂 I love reading little things like this, reminds me there are more simple things to be cooked/prepared and to keep them in mind for parties or work throw togethers 😉

  3. In America, coriander refers to the seeds of the plant. The leaves are called cilantro. I hope no one tries this with half a cup of coriander seed! I love tuna. I’ll have to try preparing it this way–with cilantro!

  4. Yip, i love tuna! Tuna are so yummy on pizza’s! I use 1 tin of tuna, 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 1 brown onion (chopped), some grated cheese (Gouda & Mozzarella) mix it all together and spread it evenly over the base of the pizza……

  5. In my family everyone loves tuna. My favorite restaurant in Gold coast is Osushi. The food is fresh, clean, affordable and cooked at the table. It provides really good food, at an affordable price, prepared by Japanese master chefs.
