Brought to you by Mundipharma®.
I’m one of those people who likes to be prepared. Probably a little overly so. I overthink everything and like to write lists. So, it will probably come as no surprise to you that I also am all about the first aid kit. We have one in the garage and another in the laundry. {I do need to buy a fire blanket for the kitchen though, been meaning to do that one for a while. I’m not perfect, forgive me! ????}.
I didn’t have one for my car though, and I’d been meaning to do that for a while, so I put this one together with some advice from the team at mundicare and put it together in a blog post for you. It’s just a small kit with the essentials for any mishaps that might happen while you’re out and about. This would easily work for at home too.
If you’re not familiar with the mundicare brand, let me quickly give you the run down; they make a range of natural first aid products with Australia’s natural healer, Melaleuca Oil {also known as tea tree oil}. I can remember as a kid that my Mum would use tea tree oil for pretty much anything. It removed stickers from things we shouldn’t have stuck them on. It was used to get rid of the dreaded nits. And it was even used when we’d had a spill and scraped ourselves. mundicare’s Melaleuca oil comes from plants that are harvested and refined only once a year in Byron Bay.
You don’t need a fancy box or anything special for your kit, I’ve used something that most families have lying around at home; an empty wipes container. I grabbed some alphabet stickers from the local bargain shop, and simply stuck Fix It! on the side, cos that’s what a first aid kit does, right? It FIXES all the things.
Take a look inside…
Here’s what you can put inside your kit:
-
- Plasters {you need around 20, in different shapes and sizes}
- mundicare Burnaid Gel
- Cotton tips {place these in a little snap-lock bag}
- Gloves {powder-free if possible}
- Wipes
- Scissors
- mundicare Itch Relief {this is my personal must-have because kids get itchy!}
- mundicare Antiseptic Spray
- Antibacterial hand sanitiser
- Cotton swabs
- Instant cold pack
- mundicare Skin Relief {for chafing that happens when you’re at the beach or exercising}
- Tweezers
- Saline
- CPR barrier kit
| This itch relief comes in both a gel and spray. We love the spray, because we live in an area with a lot of mozzies and midgies, so it’s essential for the kids. The spray means we can treat the itch really quickly {no touching required!} and the kids can go back to playing.
mundicare ANTISEPTIC | This comes in the gel and spray, but also in a purified 100% Melaleuca Oil {nature’s antiseptic}. These antiseptics all help cleanse, soothe and support healing. They’re a must have for first aid kits, and the Melaleuca oil is actually sourced near to me at Byron Bay {fun fact!}.
mundicare BURNAID | Unfortunately, I’ve had to use this one personally when I’ve burnt myself cooking, and they help a whole lot, so I won’t ever be without them in future. The Burnaid comes in a gel, spray, and also in a handy dressing. They cool burns, while soothing them, and help relieve pain.
mundicare SKIN RELIEF | Tell me you’ve done the surf to car walk and ended up with chafing too? My kids often get it after a long time in the water, so this product is a great one to have in the car or at home. It comes in a powder to absorb excess moisture, which helps protect against chafing, or a cream which is great for soothing any skin irritations.

Paw paw cream (without patroleam of course)
comfrey onitment and swedish bitters has always gone into our first aid box
my beagles big floppy ears and droppy eyes trying to con my kids in to giving him food
For years it was a daily hugs and salty air. These days aloe vera and quick thinking .
Mister three always asks for a band aid and a cuddle.
Talking to my friend always soothes the soul and a big glass of G&T doesn’t hurt either!!!
Hugs, hugs always make me feel better. Its the first thing my kids want when they hurt themselves too
They do say that time heals all wounds. In the meantime a cup of tea is often a life-saver.
I’d pop a lollipop or three in the box too. As much as chocolate makes me feel better, lollipop’s would survive being stuck in the car for months and not be all slodgy. Hopefully I’d never have to use the kit for real emergencies, but for fixing scrapes and itches, a lollipop alongside the Mundicare products would be a winner with my kids.
Kisses from mom magically heal everything 🙂
