The 9 best beach umbrellas for Aussie summers

A beach umbrella is an Aussie icon, perfect for keeping beach-goers shady on sunny beach days. There are so many beautiful options, from trendy and fringed, to simple and affordable (thank you Kmart), there’s something for every budget. Scroll on down to discover my round-up of the best beach umbrellas to get you through another gorgeous salty summer.

How to set up a beach umbrella

There’s nothing worse than a flying umbrella at the beach, mostly because it’s inconvenient but also a little dangerous! To properly secure your beach umbrella, follow the below steps:

  1. Place your umbrella into the sand by rocking it back and forth. Simply stabbing it into the sand will not do! You need to rock it back and forth, making it go deeper as you do. Ideally you want your umbrella to go 1/3 into the sand.
  2. Once it’s secure in the sand, open the canopy and tilt it into the wind. If the wind is anything more than a breeze, you might like to consider whether it’s safe to erect the umbrella at all.
  3. You can also purchase a sand anchor for extra security.

A little note. For the past 15 years, I’ve loved writing and sharing my life, the good and bad, with you, my beautiful readers. Over those years I’ve often recommended products, and services that I’ve tested, tried and/or researched. Off my blog, I’ve always been the person that people go to to ask, “Do you know what the best X is?” I’ll often publish blog posts or guides to products that I’m having fun researching, and would recommend. Some of those posts, like this one, may include paid inclusions (where I may receive a small commission at no cost to you), but I promise to only feature products that I have or would happily buy myself. Honesty and transparency is, and always will be super important to me, because I know it’s important to you too.
