Disney Social Media Moms: The beginning

One day back in February I got an email from Disney asking if I’d like to attend the Disney Social Media Mom conference. It felt surreal to even be asked, and I can remember calling Hubby to relay the news and we were both in disbelief {with a whole heap of ecstatic thrown in too!}.

Disney Social Media Moms is in it’s second year. Last year 125 women attended {they wanted to limit the attendee number to keep it intimate} and this year there were 200 attending {still trying to maintain the intimacy & community feel}. After a quick google I realised it was the conference that everyone wanted to attend, and it was hard to get into. To say I was honoured to be attending was a huge understatement.

Despite googling for more insider secrets I knew very little about what I was in for. I watched a video by blogger Molly on what to pack, I read tweets from Disney about the goodies they were giving us and I read that Chris Brogan was a huge hit at the 2010 conference. Other than that, I knew very little. I had no expectations {which is how I like to go into things}.

It felt surreal for the lead up before we left. I felt like it was too good to be true, but thankfully it wasn’t. It was real. It was true… and I can tell you now… it was wonderful.

As I said this morning, this week I’ll be sharing detailed posts on our stay… so I won’t go into details here… but I just wanted to share what Disney Social Media Moms is… to me.

It’s a conference for Mums who blog {not to be confused with Mummy Bloggers} and even some dads too. It’s about Mums, but it’s also about the families too. It’s about celebrating life, celebrating blogging, learning, community, creating friendships, magic and fun. It’s about seeing your child within… and treating her to a little magic.

I hope you enjoy the posts, as much as I’m enjoying writing them and reliving them. xx
