We spent Saturday celebrating Father’s Day as Hubby had a random day off. I told him that we had a surprise day planned for him – so we headed into the City for a bit of exploring, and dumplings too. On Sunday Hubby set off for work, so Lacey & I headed to Ma’s for breakfast and a walk along the coast. The weather was perfect for getting out and about, and despite feeling a bit under the weather … it felt so good to be out and enjoying Spring.
Worst:
There’s a huge hole in our lives that used to be filled by Bluey {Lacey’s PopPop, Hubby’s dad}. Everyday I think of him, and miss him {for me, and Hubby and Lacey too}. And this weekend was hard. On Friday Hubby found a camera that we last used in July last year. It had photos of Lacey and PopPop … and it broke our hearts. We still can’t believe he’s not here. It’s just not fair.
How was your weekend? What was the best and worst of your two day break?
Grief seems yo hurt worse on special says.
I yearn for point and shoot – we upcycled some old outdoor chairs and tables – gorgeous fun for the five of us! It was the best.
The worst? Eating to much curry and feeling stuffed and ick…
Yesterday must've been so hard for you guys 🙁 I can't even begin to imagine how you all felt.
BEST:Everything. The weather. Time spent with my boyfriend's family. Cuddling a baby girl. Getting 9 hour sleeps on both Friday and Saturday night. A great weekend all round.
WORST: Same as Lucy, eating far too much food on Saturday night and feeling so incredibly uncomfortable afterwards!!! A true first world problem. xxx
Best: Hubby celebrated his first father's day, so there was cake and lots of smiles!
Worst:Sat the little one had reflux, and wasn't sleeping well 🙁
Hello Chantelle
I can imagine how much you all miss pop pop – there is a void that can never be filled.
we had all of us together for fathers day (my mum & dad too and they are much older now).
it was wonderful to be together.
the worst
My day has 3 ailments at the moment and is not feeling the best – he is feeling very old and was not in the happiest place yesterday – medical appointments again this week.
It is terrible to see anyone in pain but I think hits the worst when it is your own family.
have a lovely day
x
Loulou
Big hugs to you. My father died 25 years ago this month and I can tell you the milestones do get a little easier, but it is still a case of something missing.
Best this weekend – listening to my 6yo who requested a computer hiatus for Father's day – a whole day where no one (including her LOL) went on the computer. We played games, ate lots of Father's Day treats and generally relaxed.
Worst – I am still so tired these days that I spent too much of that time with my bum parked in my favourite comfy chair when the kids played cricket, baseball, swing tennis etc with hubby
Best: Celebrating Hubby's very first Father's Day.
Worst: Missing my Dear Dad, he's been gone for 6 years now, and though it does get easier – there is still a massive void in our lives.
Hugs to you
Sending you love and hugs, Chantelle. Mother's Day is the same for us. x
Death is horrible.
I haven't had anyone really close to me pass, and I dread that day.
I suppose all you can do is remember the good PopPop times and smile at his memory.
xoxo
that makes my eyes go extremely shiney, i lost my nana audrey mae a month ago……and it doesn't seem real {like a dream} i can't stop thinking about her and my grandad who is left behind, i hope you get some joy from the photos you didn't know you had…..
best : red hill markets on sat and meeting new people and just hanging with my boys yesterday {nana naps} love it
worst : felt a little flat yesterday arvo {missing family}
thanks for sharing chantelle lisa x
Best: Spending the evening with Dad & my Bro who was celebrating his first Father's day.
Worst: Watching Hubby mourn his Dad {5 years on} and get a little shitty, to be frank, that he still isn't a father himself.
Glad for the opportunity to celebrate my amazing, wonderful Father & brother, but really, didn't seem worth it for me. I'm just sayin'…
xo
Big mixture of happy and sad for you 🙁
And here I am on my day off, and there's a picture of my office.. sheesh lol!
