Special.

My Hello Lady man visited yesterday. Hubby answered the door so I didn’t get to see him, but it was nice to know that he was still visiting.

He delivered 6 boxes of cereal. Chocolate cereal. I joined up to a company that trials new products and asks for feedback. I love doing surveys and trialling new things, so it’s right up my alley.

I was told a few weeks ago that it would be Special K with Chocolatey Flakes. That had me a bit puzzled for a while. Special K is well known for being one of the healthiest cereals on the market, so when they threw the chocolate in… well it threw me.

Having a look at the box though and reading through the information that was sent with it, it does makes sense.. now. Have you ever had cereal after dinner to fill the void that dessert would most certainly fill? I have. I used to love having weetbix for dinner or dessert when Hubby was on night shift before Lacey was here.

I know some people will choose ice cream over cereal any day, but sometimes it’s just something sweet that you need… it doesn’t really matter what it is.

The info said that 21% of females aged 18-49 claim to eat cereal after dinner at least once a week. The Special K with Chocolatey Flakes has less than 150 calories per 35g serve (without milk) so it will satisfy the sweet cravings without undoing all your hard work.

I opened up a packet to have a bit of a taster. It was actually real chocolate in there. That was a surprise. I don’t think I could do them with milk, although I will probably give them a little try later on. Eating them as they were though, they weren’t too bad. They remind me of something as a kid. The flavour is very distinct. I can’t put my finger on it, but will be relieved when I do! It’s driving me batty. I guess I have 6 boxes to get through so I should hopefully figure it out before they’re all gone!

So a thumbs up from me. Nice and crunchy, and satisfying. Good for that 4pm sugar craving I get. Oh, and maybe the 9pm one too. x

  1. oh whaoooah. I thought I was going to have to chastize you for some online purchase LMAO!

Chocolate cornflakes? It is odd isn’t it? but beats the heck out of a block of lindt or heaven forbit a family block of cold cadbury black forest.. *gulp*

  2. Ha ha. I’ve been good on the shopping front. So good, I’ve surprised myself. Thanks for keeping an eye on me. 🙂

Don’t even talk about blocks of chocolate. My mouth is watering! I’m trying to convince myself cereal is better!

  3. Do they taste a little like those tiny orange packets of Ovalteenies we had as a kid?

I am a remorseless cereal eating machine. Breakfast, lunch, dinner- whenever the cereal mood takes me I will have some.

I figure it has to be better than scoffing down a block of chocolate or a peanut butter sandwich- right?

  4. I am a huge cereal snacker – particularly with Special K! But I dont really like chocolate so they missed me in that marketing!

That is such interesting targeting though!!

  5. Love me some cereal after dinner. Usually it does cure the sweet, but my kinds never have the amount of sugar ice cream has. Plus, the fiber and skim milk make it a better choice.

  6. Court – You may be on to something there. I might have to taste them again – but I think you’re onto a winner.

Amy – I must be reading wrong! You don’t really like chocolate. Woah. I wish I had that going on!

Kahlee – I saw it in the supermarket… go nab yourself some. 🙂

Jen – Thanks. I am loving all the pictures too. I’m crazy about photos!

Diana – It’s a much better choice. Of course sometimes ice cream will win though.

Jo – Ta. I did enjoy it. 😉

    Danielle – That’s a good attitude to have. 😉

Katy – True. Moderation is a hard thing to achieve. 🙂

  7. Chantelle 2 Things: What a cool service that lets you try out new product and I eat cereala lot of times after dinner. Last night I woke up with that dreaded “night eating” thing. I wanted to eat something and there were many bad choices in the house BUT I decided on my cheerios and it satisfied me 🙂 I trust all is well down under!
