Let’s talk about {good} sleep, baby.

This is a sponsored post for A.H. Beard and the 6 week sleep challenge.

Ah, sweet sleep. The ever-elusive, ever-so-wonderful sleep. How I adore you.

I’m tired. But tired is my new normal. If you’ve read this blog before you know that sleep and I have an odd relationship. It used to be brilliant. I was a perfect sleeper; in bed by 8:30pm {party animal I am not} and up before the sun. I never woke in between, not even for a toilet break. Winning.

Then I married a shift worker, and I had a daughter who appeared to be almost allergic to sleep. So I suffered. So did those darn bags under my eyes. At the chemist the other day I was talking to the Naturopath trying to find a medicine for myself {not sleep-related}, then suddenly she looked at me, really looked at me, and kinda gasped. “Wait, are you low in iron?”

“Oh, you’re talking about these bags under my eyes?” I said pointing to them, as if she hadn’t already noticed and gasped at them. “Nope. Iron levels are perfect. I’m just tired.” Also, thank you very much.

There are four main types of sleepers {see below}. I’m the first, Hubby is the fourth, and Lacey is pretty much all of them {besides the pain one!}. Welcome to the house of fun!

Sleep could be in our very near future though. In August A.H. Beard is setting up a 6 week sleep challenge to help us sleep. Rejoice! And by ‘us’ I mean you and me. Everyone can play along. Who doesn’t want better sleep? And just for taking part you could win a $4000 A.H. Beard bed. Double rejoice!

How does it work?

It’s super easy and free. Sleep should be free and easy, right? All you have to do is head over to the Sleep Challenge page, pick which type of sleeper you are and then over the 6 weeks you’ll be sent stylishly fancy newsletters that will help you make some changes in order to get a good night’s sleep. Simple changes that make a difference, like diet, lifestyle, technology etc.

This short video shows you how too:

So, are you in for some pretty awesome sleep? I am. I need to make some changes before baby arrives, and hopefully get the other two in my family on their way too. Simply click here to get started.

    • I think that’s number one. Are we going to be those old couples that sleep in separate rooms because of one’s snoring?

I usually don’t hear it, but during pregnancy I’ve been known to give him a push and say, “I can hear you breathing!!”

He says, “Sorry, should I stop?”

      • Bahaha. I usually just get a terse – ‘ what do you want me to do about it?’. Some night I “accidently” kick him because he’s turned into a giant chainsaw.

  1. I am also a pretty terrible sleeper. I can drop off easily and heavily around 8.30-9pm but then I will wake anywhere from 2.30am to 6am and not be able to go back to sleep. Pregnancy has not assisted with this AT ALL!

      • Oh it’s so frustrating. I actually don’t mind being an early waker, but that early means I’m ready for bed again at 11am!
I’m due mid November so still a while left to go.

  2. Owh no! I really like to join this challenge as I’m an terrible BAD sleeper, but can’t seem to be able to join the challenge! Hope website will work later…

      • Yeah I get an error message: {“success”:true} with a white page. If I try reloading same I get the message: {“success”:false,”errors”:[]}
Will keep on trying… Hope it’s not because I’m trying to join from Vietnam…

          • A nice surprise in my inbox this morning; the subscription worked anyway, despite the error the page showed. I’m so ready for some decent and solid sleep 🙂

  3. Just joined for the next challenge that starts on August 5. I was a shift worker since age 17 for many many years and have the luxury now of working Monday to Friday morning shifts. My problem is that I need 2 new knees (bone on bone in both) after many years of playing catcher in softball, hockey and squash. Cause I am too “young” ( it is nice to be too young for something I guess) I can’t have a knee replacement yet. Mind you it is starting to impinge on almost everything I do, am on pain killers, anti inflammatory drugs and is now keeping me awake at night…off to the orthopaedic surgeon I go on August 7. I so hope this works…being positive It will work!!!!
