I Dropped A Ball.

I wish I had exciting things to talk about. Adventures. Stories. Recipes. Life tales. But I don’t. I could tell you about the piles of laundry, the floor that’s been left unswept, the books that lay unread, magazines taunting me to open them, emails beckoning me to reply, work pleading with me to be done, my camera teasing me to take just a few photos. My face is spotty, my hair is a mess, my wardrobe is looking sad as I wear the same clothes over and over.
I have three diaries going, lists of lists of things I need to do. There aren’t enough hours in the day. How do I get more?
So I’m still trying to master this juggling act, and I’ve dropped some balls. At least I’m still smiling.
I’d love to lay outside and escape it all with a little cloud dreaming. How do you escape the hustle & bustle of life?

Or you could come and sweep my floors. You decide.

  1. You're funny Telle! I'll sweep yours if you do mine.

There aren't enough hours in the day are there? I feel a bit blah, I've let gym visits slip the past 10 days. Rectifying that today, and tomorrow and Friday…

  2. I'm feeling very much the same way, with huge Uni assignments looming over my head, nothing esle gets done. I hope you find the balls you dropped.

  3. I'll send the Bebito around to sweep your floors, he loves doing it! Can't attest to the quality of the work though. I know exactly how you feel and my best tip is to focus on getting the most important things done and totally stuff the rest! It's only still really new for you and you will find a way to make it work. In the meantime don't beat yourself up over it. Much love to you! xo

  4. When you are done with her floors, can you come do mine? Oh and make me a lasagne? I escape by glugging a wine in the bath like I did last night. Then hop straight into bed with a book. BLISS. Or Karaoke.

  5. You could be describing me! I so relate to this post. I have been a work from home mummy for four years now and I still haven’t found the right balance. I escape by the hustle and bustle by staying up late when everyone else is asleep and I read. And drinking wine helps!

  6. Well, at least you managed to get your balls up in the air. I'm not sure I've even managed that…lol!!! I'm sure you'll get them to going again very soon!! If not, oh well. We all need a break sometimes!!

  7. it is hard…i can't believe that anyone can do it all all the time…you just have to do what you can and be kind to yourself…you are in a new phase of your life and it will take a while to adjust…you can't do everything yourself it is just not physically possible…now if you had a nanny lol!

  8. Chantelle, you need to get a cleaner and get a schedule happening.

You need some time to look at the clouds and maybe a set time to walk alone would do that?

    Am I nagging? Yep.

    I wish I could help you more……

    xx

  9. I know how you're feeling. I've dropped several balls this week. It's so hard trying to work at home and be everything to everyone, isn't it? Console yourself by knowing you're not on your own. xx

  10. I have had days like that…but I always feel like there's never enough hours in a day and there should be more or wish I required less hours of sleep.

  11. My ultimate escape is a hot spa bath, trashy magazines and a big mug of warm milk with a splash of honey and vanilla… mmm wish I was there now!

  12. I hear you Fat Mum Slim. I am always the same when I am in one of life's transitions. Picking up something new always causes havoc for me, but eventually I manage my version of balance again. It will get easier. Take some time for you!

I have been a lurker on your blog for a long time. I listened to your radio interview today (your voice is different than I imagined) and was suitably impressed. You have it going on in spades my girl.

  13. Hi Telle. Very funny I just hopped on to check your blog before facing the rest of my day. And your entry is so REAL. I love it!

What I do when i have a heap to do. I 1st start with the living areas (kitchen, dining room, family room). Once I've done school and kinder drop offs I clean the sink down, stack dishwasher, place cushions exactly where i want them (control freak), I feel relaxed again. I set small steps on my checklist each day and how I feel im in control again when the living areas are tidy incase the door bell rings…..

Next i make the beds if not done then I work on folding clothes or vacuuming etc etc. Filing etc. This is my day off schedule. The other 4 weekdays are do drop offs then run around in every direction doing grocery and other kids activities. That consumes most of my days and I feel like im in the car more than home but this is the path Ive decided for myself at the moment. If I havent done my simple living areas cleaning I feel so off balance. Sorry to comment with an essay but the simple stuff is my medicine for feeling in control of my situation.

    All the best today.

  14. I don't have any little ones to juggle, but I know what you mean about the lists of lists of things that need doing!
In the next couple of weeks, I'm going to look into getting a cleaner to come in once a fortnight. It's an extravagance, sure, but I think it will be sooo worth it.
Otherwise, when I need to escape the hustle and bustle, I go and sit in the sun for 5 minutes and meditate, or go for a walk around the block. It really wakes me up and energises me to keep plugging away at whatever I'm doing (especially work!)
Good work at keeping on smiling 🙂

  15. Ok, embrace technology, do you have a blackberry or an iphone? You need to consolidate those three diaries into one location – (Do a google search to work out how to consolidate).
The rest – goodluck with, if you drop balls from time to time that's just living in this crazy world. As long as you're smiling still then nothing else really matters.
    Goodluck with it!
    Sx

  16. Your interview sounded great Chan!

You certainly have a lot on the go, you need to slot in some YOU time in that diary of yours so you can relax and unwind.

OH and get yourself a good assistant…LOL!

  17. Chantelle, you should definitely come and visit us at our farmstay! Take a break with Lacey and your husband and head outback to Turlee Station Stay for a little break! We'd love to have you out for a visit!
