  1. Tears! My best friends brother was 16 when he got diagnosed….sadly he passed away at 18.
We always talk about the damage that models do to girls self-image. What impact does seeing tanned models have? When are we going to have the conversation about what tanning, that healthy glow is doing. When will pale be truly in fashion?
I do not care that I may not be fashionable when I'm at the beach but my rash shirt is always on and so is the hat….why cause fashion is fleeting, but those moles on my back could one day be deadly.
    Thank you for posting this.

  2. Great find Chantelle!
My hubby is at a funeral today for one of his workmates who died from melanoma, he was diagnosed late last year.
As much as I know it's important to have skin checked, it is also one of my biggest fears. I have had moles removed in the past, and have been avoiding check-ups so I don't have to have any more removed. Stupid, I know. After hubby's friend dying and watching this video, I think I am ready to get checked again.

  3. Really beautiful find Chantelle. Thank you for sharing.

I check myself all the time since my father found a melanoma on his ear. I am so careful when I go out into the sun.

I live in a beach side suburb and it pains me when I see mostly younger people baking there bodies. I want to go up to them and explain how dangerous it is….

  4. MY school principal passed away last week after his melanoma had spread to his brain. Horrific.

I always go to my doctors telling them that i think this mole and this mole and this mole and this mole have changed. I think they get annoyed at me for complaining so much:P

  5. Oh Gosh..if this isnt the kick up the pants then I dont know what is…I have been meaning to get my moles checked out for 6 months or more…but chicken out each time..out of fear I suppose. But really…it needs to be done. Thanks for the push x

  6. Beautiful, powerful and oh-so-important. I went for a skin check just recently and posted about it on my blog, hoping it would encourage others to follow suit.
Your sharing this on here will have the effect I had hoped for, thank you x

  7. I've had moles removed in the past, too, although they were fine. I suppose I should go and get checked… but my days always seem so busy. :o/ No excuse, really.

  8. it's in my family 8^( — i have my moles checked every time i have my pap smear/breast exam … a thorough inside and out! no bad news yet, but i too regret all those so-called 'great tans'. i'll be spreading this clip for sure! xt

  9. Thanks for sharing this Chantelle, my friend had a scare only last week and was told if she hadn't of picked it up now her mole would of turned very nasty possibly within a year. Theres a lesson here for us all. But I get scared….

  10. I had my skin checked on Monday…as a very pale person with parents who have both had skin cancers cut out I am very careful. Mind you, I also have severe vitamin D deficiency because I avoid my skin seeing sunlight that much. The doctor at the skin cancer clinic actually told me to see more sun!

  11. I had a Malignant Melanoma at age 37, 23 weeks pregnant with baby number 2. It was a very frightening time in my life. I'm clear for now, but my chances of finding future melanomas are very high, and my melanoma has made my children twice as likely to have a melanoma when they grow up. My parting word of advice is go to your GP for a checkup and if there's anything you think is odd, but your GP doesn't agree ask for a referral to a dermatologist. Spend the time and money, trust your gut instinct. This is how I found mine. The “Skin Cancer Clinic” at my local medical centre said “that doesn't look nasty, it's just a mole” To me it looked hideous. I saw my GP asked for a referral and after 2 seconds of looking at my leg the dermatologist said “You're not leaving until I cut that whopping malignant melanoma out of your leg” It was on my bikini line. Great video Chantelle, I plan to share it today. Thank you.

  12. Thank you for posting this message.

It is a very important message that needs to be shared.

That is why I volunteer for the American Cancer Society.

Melanoma is one of many cancers out there. I hope that one day we will find a cure.

  13. It freaked me out so much when I watched it the other day I rang my husband (who is very moley) and asked him if he wouldn't mind if I booked him an appointment – his comment was can we afford it – my comment was it's your life – and so I booked it and stumblled on a bulk billing clinic – fingers are crossed for the all clear.

  14. that was so sad and important for most people to hear.

my mother died when i was 13 from malignant melanoma. i have 3 little kids and pray i'll be around to see them grow up; the way my mother couldn't.
